Facebook and Ray-Ban smart glasses already have a release date

Facebook could announce tomorrow, September 9, its smart glasses in collaboration with Ray-Ban . The US lens manufacturer has confirmed the announcement through its website, although without details about the functions that will come to this new product or its availability.

Ray-Ban invites users to register to receive a notification about the launch. Facebook, at the moment, has not confirmed the date of presentation. It is possible, therefore, that the announcement scheduled for tomorrow is actually to confirm the final release date.

Facebook has already revealed some details about these smart glasses, which seem to be another accessory to complement the smartphone and will include functions very similar to the Spectacles of Snapchat or the glasses of Huawei and Gentle Monster. The company confirmed that they would arrive with an “iconic form factor”, referring to the classic look of the lenses of the American manufacturer . Everything indicates that they will be sunglasses, given that the functions are designed to be used outside the home. However, it is unknown if Ray-Ban will allow the lenses to be graduated.

Facebook and Ray-Ban glasses will allow you to record video and perform other actions

Facebook and Ray-Ban glasses will not have an integrated display. However, they will include the possibility to answer and make calls , possibly through the help of a microphone integrated into the mount. Also for live broadcasting thanks to a built-in camera. While there are no details to confirm this, the glasses could include a small speaker for listening to conversations, as well as touch controls on the temples.

The accessory, in addition, may be able to capture video in a more than decent quality , as Andrew Bosworth, vice president of augmented reality and virtual reality of Facebook, has shown on his Twitter profile .

The smart glasses from Facebook and Ray-Ban are actually one more step towards augmented reality glasses. In this case, no functions are expected beyond the aforementioned features that will allow more versatility on a day-to-day basis. However, Facebook continues to focus a large part of its efforts on virtual reality and augmented reality projects with new devices that could arrive in the future.
