Facebook enters the newsletters game by announcing Bulletin

Facebook is getting into the subscription newsletter game by launching a new service today, called Bulletin, that allows writers to publish free newsletters and payment that can be published on the web, sent to subscribers' mailboxes and shared on Facebook .

“The new platform is focused on empowering independent writers, helping them reach new audiences and power their businesses,” said CEO of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg .

Bulletin is a direct response to the growing popularity of Substack , another newsletter platform dedicated to independent writing. Twitter also made its move by purchasing Revue, another newsletter platform, although it hasn't done much to integrate it into the social network yet.

Zuckerberg says Bulletin is part of Facebook 's mission to continue growing its creator monetization tools . Facebook has brought in a number of writers for a beta period and says it will add more “over time”. Currently however, it is not adding new writers and Bulletin is not accepting submissions yet .
