Facebook has given up on its very ambitious plans to build drones through which to spread the internet in rural areas, especially in developing and poorly connected countries. The Aquila project of the social network will however continue to exist, but only through the collaboration of aeronautical companies and Facebook will no longer invest in the construction of its own drones. Mark Zuckerberg had repeatedly praised the work behind Aquila, despite the large drones imagined by his company had several technical problems still to be solved. It is not clear what the future partners of Facebook will be, which had however announced last November a collaboration with Airbus for the construction of better systems for the transmission of data from high altitudes.
