Facebook limits the sharing of links to private pages and profiles: what is happening?

As also reported on our Facebook group (subscribe!), In the last few hours the famous social network has been limiting the sharing of links to user profiles and, in certain cases, even to pages. Several reports can also be found on Downdetector, where some users are complaining about the blocking of content sharing on their account.

From what a user reported, it even happens that Facebook applies restrictions even after trying to post a GIF in the comments section. There is no shortage of testimonials , and there does not seem to be a common denominator between the people and the pages that have been temporarily unable to publish. There is a rumor among users that it depends on the number of posts shared by the profiles: if it is too high it could trigger the block.

In the Facebook regulation it is specified that “Facebook imposes limitations aimed at preventing the misuse of our functions and protecting users from spam and intimidation … The limitations are based on different elements, such as speed and quantity, but we cannot provide further information on the limits in force “.

Ultimately then Facebook does not explain the reason for such limitations . It does not necessarily depend on the number of content actually shared. These days it seems there has been a change in the algorithm that precisely decrees which accounts should be limited (and why), but certainly there is nothing. The anomaly is that so many profiles were hit almost simultaneously. We will update the article in case of statements from Facebook. Let us know in the comments if you have been affected by these restrictions over the weekend.
