Facebook Messenger will notify you when someone takes screenshots of a chat, but only in certain cases

Although Meta confirmed the delay of end-to-end encryption (E2EE) on Instagram and Facebook Messenger at the end of 2022, the latter continues to be updated to improve its security. Through its official website, the social network announced that Facebook Messenger will start notifying you when another user takes a screenshot, but under certain conditions.

This novelty comes as part of the effort to strengthen end-to-end encryption. Messenger already notified if any of the participants of a chat took a screenshot of a message within the “Ephemeral mode”. Now, however, Facebook Messenger will notify you when you take a screenshotto a temporary message within a secret conversation.

Last year we updated the settings for disappearing messages in our end-to-end encrypted chats and now introduce a new notification when we detect someone taking a screenshot of a temporary message.

Of course, users will still be able to take screenshots within encrypted chats. However, a small message will appear at the bottom of the chat warning that “ took a screenshot.”

After announcing E2EE encryption for group chats and calls a year ago, Facebook Messenger has finally released them Now, according to their website, you can “connect with your friends and family in a private and secure way”

In addition, compatibility has been added between GIFs, stickers and reactions to conversations with E2EE protection. You can also reply to a specific message within this type of conversation and finally an indicator will be shown when someone is writing a message.

Soon users will be able to save any multimedia files received through encrypted conversations, and it will also be possible to edit videos within the application.Facebook Messenger is concentrating on improving the possibilities of their conversations encrypted ions, which could facilitate the transition to a possible end-to-end encryption by default in the application, although we will have to wait for that.

Facebook Messenger has already deployed the new functions to its app and to the web version. However, not everyone will receive them at the same time, so if you don't have them you will have to wait a bit.
