As we said in an article a few days ago, the guidelines and direction of the 1 Giga Italy plan are finally clearing up, aimed at bringing everyone a 1 Gbps connection by 2026 .
This plan serves to “fill in” the gaps left in the white areas (ie the most disadvantaged from the point of view of investments) by Open Fiber and other private operators. Thanks to Italia a 1 Giga the aim is to have a 1 Gbps network (with a minimum of 300 Mbps during peak hours) in all Italian homes, whether with FTTH network (wired) o FWA (i.e. wireless).
In order to reach this goal, however, it is obviously necessary to understand what these civics are. To do this, Infratel has mapped all the Italian civics over the last month, discovering that they are 2,274,979 for which no operator has provided a plan of high-speed coverage and for which it will therefore be the 1 Giga public plan in Italy that will have to think about it by 2026.
Of these civics, only 29.8% will be covered by FTTH by 2026, while 82.5% will be covered by FWA wireless networks.
