Young, colorful, simple and available in two versions (to please everyone's ears): the Fresh 'n Rebel Twins are a model of comfortable, fresh and at the right price wireless earphones. We've been testing them for some time, on different phones – here's the proof.
Fresh 'n Rebel Twins, the review
Six for two
It is difficult to remain indifferent to this new product from Fresh 'n Rebel Twins, a brand that has accustomed us to classy, young and colorful results, but with an affordable price.
The first thing that surprised us was the double proposal, both earphones but one in the In-Ear version and a second more open (Apple-style), the latter being tested.
Test that was performed with the open model in Petrol Blue (a dark green), but which readers can also choose in Ruby Red, Dusty Pink, Misty Mint, Ice Gray and Storm Gray.
A beautiful proposal, the richest in memory of those who write for a similar product, which will please the public to whom it is intended (and not only).
The technical details are the same, like the inside of the package: the choice between the two designs is purely anatomical, based on which type of headphones fits best in the ear.
Design
Inside the package the headphones, with the nest for charging, and a USB-A / USB-C cable of the same color (nice).
The case is made of shiny plastic on the outside (perhaps a little too shiny and smooth) with the brand screen printed on the side where the lid opens.
The six colors available, visible here on the case
Below the USB-C connector for charging, but alternatively the case can also be charged by induction (with compatible models).
Once the case is opened, it shows the battery level and the status of the earbuds via four white LEDs.
The latter are, in the version we tested that you can see in the images on this page, slightly larger than the AirPods, covered with a slightly velvety soft rubber, really pleasant to the touch.
No App, only Bluetooth 5
The desire for independence of the Fresh 'n Rebel Twins is strong: no support App, once the case is opened, it searches for the last device to which it was connected in Bluetooth (5.0) and if it does not find it, it starts automatically in pairing mode.
A beep is heard in the headphones which certifies the successful connection with the device, just to confirm: we have not noticed any other feedback of any kind.
The headphones offer only elementary controls: double and triple tap on the part with the logo to change the playback or to call up the voice assistant of the phone (the function is delegated to the phone). Volume is missing, too bad.
The internal batteries are good enough, but some attention is needed: 4 hours on a single charge, with a 20-hour charge given by the case. In this sense, the one-hour quick recharge stands out, very interesting: basically, if you take a long trip you have to think about other things, but for everyday life they are just fine.
Le Fresh 'n Rebel Twins, here on an iPhone 6s
Music and calls
The musical reproduction of the Fresh 'n Rebel Twins is good: lows, mids and highs are well defined, without any excess (usually the headphones suitable for the youngest use low potential, here instead everything is more balanced).
Perhaps in some midrange frequencies some notes are already contained than would be expected, but it is a musical timbre that you get used to soon, they are not headphones for audiophiles but they play well the music they are intended for.
The speech issue is more delicate: we tested the headphones with both an iPhone 6s and an iPhone 8 and observed the same result.
Calls are clear and, as long as we are at home or in the office, no problem, but outdoors background noises often interfere with the call.
The headphones do not have an active noise reduction system, so there is no filter on the type of sound input and in the headphones and of course the microphone does what it can to capture the voice, but it happens that from time to time the a passing car or background noise confuses reception and the call is disturbed.
Considerations
If we consider the cost, the capabilities, the design and that cheeky look given by the look, according to the writer the Fresh 'n Rebel Twins are really interesting.
We talk about everyday life, of course, the time to go to school or to the office, to the gym or the way to the disco, but the experience seems good to us, at an affordable price.
In addition, the fact of being able to freely choose the design, between open and In-Ear, according to taste, in addition to the color, is appreciable, which if it is not in the store, do not hesitate to get it online.
