Home Hi-Tech Android World ,,,,, They have exploded for some time, on the wrist as well as of sportsmen, also of users who use it in everyday life to simply have a reference of the steps and calories burned. We are talking about smart bands, now widespread among users, if only for the really low cost. The one in test G16 offers a color display. Here's what we think.
The G16 smartband has a rather conventional design, narrow and long, like Samsung's Gear bracelets. On the front it offers a large 0.96-inch color display with IPS technology. It is not very bright, but it reads well in any context, even under sunlight. It offers a silicone strap, comfortable to wear, it fastens well on the wrist, remaining firmly in place, even during physical activity or at night. It has IP67 certification, but it is not designed to be immersed in liquids: you can wash your hands, expose to rain, but not swim. On the back there is also a heart rate sensor, but among the innovations, which are often not found on other smart bracelets of the same type, G16 can also measure blood pressure, returning the maximum and minimum values.
While it is difficult to actually ascertain the accuracy of the latter data, we have been able to verify the operation by counting steps, calories, distance traveled, putting it in direct comparison with other bracelets on the wrist, even of a higher range. As far as the heartbeat is concerned, we appreciated a certain precision, with results almost always comparable to other higher-end bands. Step counting is fairly accurate, although the G16 tends to overestimate them slightly.
Overall it is a good ally in everyday life, to set one's goals, even if it is certainly not a band for professional use. Particularly appreciable is the presence of a color display, with a well-made graphic interface, simple to use, always able to provide all the details of interest to the screen, with a simple tap on the multifunctional central button. If with the tap on the central button it is possible to navigate between the various tabs, with a long press it is possible to change the quadrant, being able to choose between the four available: there are not many, but they are well made and all fully usable.
It does not have an integrated GPS module, which is why it needs a smartphone in case of use during jogging. The companion app offers a handy tab with Google Maps, which instantly pinpoints the user's location. A praise to the 105mAh battery, capable of ensuring at least 7 days of continuous use. In stand-by we have exceeded 20 days: the data reported by the manufacturer are therefore plausible and true.
Among the standard functions, as already mentioned, there is no shortage of step count, distance traveled, calories burned, in addition to the health data listed above. Furthermore, the bracelet also monitors the state of sleep, distinguishing between the various nocturnal phases, such as deep and light sleep, and indicating the total hours. The bracelet also offers reminder functions for incoming calls, but also for other apps. During our test on Android we found some shortcomings in the notification reminder, even if in general the text of the incoming message on WhatsApp was almost always possible: of course, it is not possible to reply directly from the bracelet, neither on Android, nor on iOS .
App
Usually the weak point of these low-cost smartbands are the apps, often with a confusing and not too modern UI. G16, on the other hand, relies on a well-made app. It's called WearHealth; it is very simple, with few screens available, but all intuitive and easy to use. It is not translated into Italian at best, indeed many sentences will have to be interpreted. In any case, the main screen contains all the main information recorded by the bracelet, all of which are easily readable.
A praise also for the pairing: unlike many other economic bands, G16 is always ready to pair with the smartphone, even when the bluetooth is momentarily turned off, to be reactivated at other times of the day.
Conclusions
Definitely an excellent companion in everyday life. It slightly overestimates the steps, but nothing serious: overall it is accurate, even in the analysis of the heartbeat. It carries out the functions it promises in a precise and timely manner, always ready to pair with the smartphone. The color display is beautiful and functional, the autonomy is really excellent.
It usually costs over 25 euros, but using the AJBANG coupon it will be possible to buy it on TomTop for 22.95 euros, in the different colors available.
