Get ready: you will no longer be able to watch videos on YouTube Music if you don't have a Premium account

Google prepares changes to YouTube Music . The music streaming platform will debut some new features starting next month. One of the novelties is related to the visualization of videos in the app; From November it will be available only for those who have a Premium subscription .

This means that those who use YouTube Music in its free version, with ads, will see their experience limited to audio only. That is to say, anyway, that for many it will not be a problem because most of the visualization of music videos is still done from the main YouTube application.

Despite this, the Mountain View firm has decided to start changing certain issues related to the functions accessed by those who pay a monthly subscription. The truth is that if you usually watch videos from the YouTube Music app, very soon you will necessarily need a YouTube Premium or Music Premium account.

This measure will be effective as of November 3 . It will initially only be available in Canada, but Google promises news about expanding to other countries.

YouTube Music will soon offer a limited audio experience to free users

Beyond the aforementioned change, free YouTube Music users are in for a much-desired feature. We are talking about playing music in the background , which until now is limited to Premium accounts.

Also from November 3, those who access YouTube Music for free will be able to continue listening to their favorite songs even when they exit the application; or when your device screen locks. Thus, then, Google compensates for the removal of the videos with a function that is possibly even more useful for those who are not willing to pay the monthly subscription.

Once the changes take effect, Premium users of the music streaming service will have exclusive access to the video clips, a function that is added to the reproduction without commercials and the possibility of skipping songs without limitations, among others. Will it be enough to attract more users from services like Spotify and Apple Music?
