Google wants to improve the Gmail browsing experience for all Workspace users. The company has announced plans to unify Gmail, Chat and Meet in the same space to solve the terrible experience of floating windows when using some of these services in the current version. It will also integrate some changes in the interface and new functions.
One of the main innovations is in the new access bar to platforms such as Chat, Spaces or Meet. With the new design of Gmail for Google Workspace, users who want to access some of these services will be able to do so in an integrated view, and not through windows that overlap the Gmail interface, as before. Not only does this make access much more convenient when you need to organize a meeting, for example. It will also make the interface more intuitive. In part, that the Gmail options, such as the different trays or categories, will be shown in a separate section.
The new navigation menu allows you to easily switch between your inbox, important conversations and joining meetings without having to switch between tabs or open a new window.
The new integrated view will also bringnew cosmetic changes to Gmail. As Google shows in some images, the color palette will change to bluish tones and the window with emails will have rounded corners. Google will also show results of both emails and Chat conversations in the search bar. In this way, it will not be necessary to access a specific service to search for content.
When will it arrive and how to activate the new Gmail look
Current gmail design New Gmail design The company has confirmed that the new integrated view for Gmail will be available from February 8. Its activation, for the moment, will be optional. Users using Workspace will be able to test the new interface through an alert that will appear at the bottom of the screen and will have the option to disable it and return to the previous design through the Gmail settings.
It will not be until April when the new design becomes the default option for those users who decided to try it in advance. However, Google will also allow you to disable it from the platform settings. Late in the second quarter, Gmail's refreshed look will begin rolling out to all users by default. That is, without the possibility of going back.
