Google has announced that it will update its new Pixel 4s presented last week, so that the system for unlocking them via facial recognition will not work if you keep your eyes closed. However, the update will be released “in the coming months” and the company has not provided precise dates.
In its current version, the recognition works even when you have your eyes closed: it means that anyone could unlock another's smartphone, for example by pointing it in the face while they are sleeping, or during a theft to gain access to data and prevent the phone from being is remotely blocked at a later time by its owner.
