Finished the giga available on Google Drive ? It's time to move to Google One. The US company's service allows you to extend the storage space beyond the 15GB free available to each user.
Google One , is the extension of Google Drive, its paid version. Once you have finished your free digital storage, it's time to get the additional storage space. The extra giga bytes (or tera bytes) are useful for those who need to archive e-mails and attachments received in the Gmail Cloud, for the back up of your smartphone, to save photos and videos, as well as other important files. Formats such as Docs, Sheets, Slides, Google Forms and in Google Sites do not affect personal memory. The same goes for the files shared with us by other users (the memory used is that of those who created them).
The Google One rate plans
The service offers different plans depending on the needs, how much material you need to have saved on the online memory. The tariff plans available to users are as follows:
- 15GB free, usable from the moment the account is created
- 100GB for € 1.99 per month (€ 19.99 per year in a single payment for a saving of 16%)
- 200GB for € 2.99 per month (€ 29.99 per year in a single payment for a saving of 16%)
- 2TB at 9.99 euros per month (99.99 euros per year in a single payment for a saving of 17%)
- 10TB at 99.99 euros per month
- 20TB at 199 , 99 euros per month
- 30TB at 299.99 euros per month
Change a Google One rate plan
The selected storage plan can be changed at any time and it is possible to change the rate to a monthly or annual payment depending on your preferences or needs. However, changing the payment frequency may take up to 24 hours for the change to be confirmed. Another detail to take into consideration: once the subscription has been subscribed, this will be renewed automatically . To return to the base 15GB and stop the service, you will have to change the settings.
Create a family group
The difference between the various plans available is significant. The storage space available can sometimes be more than enough for a single user. Google One gives the possibility to share the extra giga (or tera) purchased with other users of your choice. To do this, you will need to create a shared family group. How? By following the steps illustrated below:
- Log in to your Google account
- From the menu on the left select People and sharing
- Click Create Family Group in the box Your Family Group on Google
- Confirm until you get to the page Invite new members in your family group
From here “you can invite up to other five family members who have a Google Account (for a total of six members). New members will be able to see your name, email address and profile photo ”, reads the official website. On this page you will find some suggested addresses, the ones you exchange emails with most frequently. You can type in your name or email address and immediately add users to share the storage plan with or skip this step and proceed later.
Users selected and added to the new family group will receive an invitation email. This will be valid for two weeks and you will receive an email confirmation as soon as they accept. After that, you can continue with setting up the shared storage space. From your Google One account, click on settings from the menu on the left. Select Share Google One with family , Manage family settings and proceed with activation.
Sharing storage space
Users who are members of the group will now have the possibility to share the space you have purchased. They will be able to do so as soon as they have used up the free 15GB available by default. Sharing the storage gigabytes does not mean that even the material saved by everyone will be accessible to everyone. Each member is guaranteed the privacy of their documents and files saved on Google One. If necessary, you can do this by making some changes to the settings. To have a clear view of the amount of memory still available you can access your account, select on Storage from the menu on the left and click on the arrow next to Family filing .
