Google Pixel 5a 5G is finally official, after the many rumors that have occurred in the past few weeks.
With an introductory price of $ 449, the Pixel 5a 5G will be even cheaper than its predecessor, but at least for the moment, it will only be distributed in Japan and the US.
According to the words of Brian Rakowski, vice president of product management at Google regarding the Pixel section, the choice to launch Pixel 5a in limited markets, and only in black color, is due to the now known lack of microprocessors, also combined with the slowness of the production chain due to Covid-19.
The hopes of seeing it in Italy are very low, at least for the moment: a pity, because at least on the Pixel 5a card it has all the credentials to be a more than worthy successor to Pixel 4a.
The main differences with Pixel 4a are first of all in size: 6.34-inch display with FullHD + resolution and 60Hz refresh rate, against 6.2 inches of the previous model. It improves the build quality, with a plastic shell and a metal frame, which allows it to earn the IP67 certification, and also increases the battery not a little, going from 3885mAh to 4680mAh.
Onboard Pixel 5a we then find the usual Snapdragon 765G octa-core chip at 7nm, flanked by 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The photographic sector also remains unchanged, with the 8-megapixel selfie cam and the 16 and 12.2 megapixel rear cameras, standard and ultra-wide angle.
Complete the picture Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, NFC, LTE, and 5G, 3.5 mm audio jack. The fingerprint reader remains on the back, and Pixel 5a will be the last Google smartphone with a charger integrated into the box. The operating system onboard will obviously be Android 11.
In short, a really nice device for the mid-range.
