Google presents a perfect smart lamp for your desk, but you will not be able to buy it

Google's range of home devices goes beyond the speakers, displays and Nest cameras that the company markets. The Mountain View firm also has a smart lamp called 'dLight', as Google designer Ben Gold confirmed in a post on Twitter. It is beautiful and functional, and it may be the ideal option for those users who work from home, if it were not for a small inconvenience: it is an exclusive product for employees.

The Google designer has not hesitated to share an image and reveal some details after verifying that the product is not confidential. He assures, however, that it will probably “never be for sale outside the company”. And it's a shame, because Google's smart lamp has really interesting features. Also a neutral and very minimalist design, which can help to combine perfectly on any desk. Gold points out in one of his tweets that the 'dLight' was designed to solve lighting problems in video calls while working remotely . The head of the lamp can be adjusted in different positions to, for example, aim at the face, and it is possible to change both the intensity of the light and its hue.

The 'dLight' also includes a USB-C connector and supports software updates via OTA. The lamp, of course, is compatible with the Google Assistant. Although it is not possible to carry out commands directly, since it does not include a microphone, the employee can control some parameters by voice when calling Google Assistant from his smartphone or speaker. In addition, as 9to5Google reveals, it can be linked to the Google Home app to control the ignition or adjust some parameters directly from the mobile.

Google has more exclusive products for employees apart from the smart lamp

Google's smart lamp is the second employee-only product that we know of. The first, as stated by the aforementioned medium, were headband headphones with active noise cancellation. These were leaked a few years ago and rumors indicated that they were the first smart headphones that the company was going to market. However, it was confirmed that it was an update to the headphones that Google distributes to its employees for phone calls.

Google workers can access these and other exclusive devices from an internal online store . The price of the lamp is unknown, while the headphones appear to be distributed free of charge to those employees who need them to carry out their duties.
