Google has announced that it will shut down Google+, its bankrupt social network, after discovering that due to a software flaw, the data of 500,000 users of the service remained accessible to hackers and programmers for three years. Google had initially decided not to communicate the security flaw to its users, because the competent office in evaluating similar cases had argued that there was no evidence of improper use of the data exposed by external developers. The company changed its mind after the Wall Street Journal published an investigation in which it spoke of the security flaw in the personal data of Google+ users. The flaw, however, was resolved last March.
