Houseparty video calling app will stop working

On Thursday, the makers of the Houseparty app, a video calling app that had become popular during the first months of the pandemic, announced that they will stop updating it starting next October. Houseparty has existed since 2016 and is a simpler version of other popular video calling services, such as Skype or Zoom: it is aimed above all at young or very young people, also offering the possibility to play with friends with whom you are connected.

Houseparty has communicated its decision with an announcement on its official website. As of June 2019, the app was owned by Epic Games, the company behind the hugely popular video game Fortnite. According to what was announced, the decision to stop updating the app is due to the fact that the staff of Houseparty are working on new projects within Epic Games.
