In recent months we have tried several models of wireless vacuum cleaners that refer to the concept of the Dyson V series without obviously getting to the advanced technology, power and even more to the price of the reference system on the market.
The basic difference lay, in addition to the use of more traditional technologies, in the suction power that made them ideal as a tool for small local cleaning or as a complement to a robot vacuum cleaner.
The JIMMY JV83 Xiaomi Youpin (still a sister brand of the omnipresent Xiaomi) instead is a candidate to become your main vacuum cleaner in replacement of a trolley model for a variety of reasons: it has an autonomy of about an hour (at the highest power low) field-proven even after two weeks, a suction power of 135 Airwatts not far from the Dyson V10's 150 aW at maximum power and a boundless range of accessories to clean where you never thought you would get with a vacuum cleaner.
For those with allergies, a mattress brush and filter system is also included that manages particles down to 0.3 microns thanks to its 4-level HEPA filter.
The packaging, the content
We tested the Chinese version directly and not the international one: the difference lies above all in the connection of the power supply / battery charger and in the presence of the manual that we only had in Chinese while it is normally in 6 languages including Italian.
Let's say immediately that the use is so intuitive that we can safely leave the manual in its envelope: the only doubt could come in the disassembly phase of the internal rollers of the two electric brushes but with a minimum of imagination you can quickly understand how to have turned it on. .
The cardboard box offers the components “wedged” inside polystyrene blocks and wrapped: there is no danger of damage during transport also because some end parts of the accessories are protected by a sort of transparent rigid plastic cap.
Inside the package we find the body with motor and filter, the full-bodied battery that can be inserted in a slide, the power supply, two brushes with electrical connection and a series of heads or brushes that snap into place.
Finally, in addition to the rigid blue tube for main cleaning, two special joints are available: a rigid joint, to reach the corners above the furniture, and a joint with a flexible tube that allows you to clean desks or shelves or shelves by turning around the objects.
Once the vacuum cleaner is assembled with the standard hose, the battery and the large electric brush, we will have a total weight of about 2.5 KG which makes it very manageable both on the floor and in the cleaning of the stairs, an area of the house where a The wireless model is appreciated to the maximum compared to its bigger brothers in tow and as a complement to robots that work only on one plane.
The suction system, filters and maintenance
The intake air ends up on the sides of the engine without directly hitting us, while the filter is placed in the upper part and characterized by extreme ease of removal: just unhook the top cover and then rotate the filter counterclockwise for cleaning or replacement.
Under the filter we find the container with a good capacity (half a liter) in transparent plastic and very easy to release for emptying the aspirate. We can easily detach it from the motor body to wash it: even here it is enough to rotate it in the direction indicated by the arrows and we will bare the washable metal filter and the suction pipe for complete access to the entire suction system, a guarantee of maintenance capacity over time. .
Power supply, power and duration
The activation button is on the back of the motor area obviously in the handle area; in the middle is the removable 25.2V, 2500 mAh and 63Wh lithium battery that fits with a slide mechanism. Within reach of the handle there is also the three-stage speed selector that allows us to better dose the ratio between power and duration of operations.
It should be noted that for recharging we can unhook the battery from the vacuum cleaner and connect it to the 30V / 0.6A power supply-charger; this will allow us to store them in different places: the vacuum cleaner perhaps indoors, away from the battery, and this one near the most convenient socket.
The three speeds allow us to manage different overall durations; at minimum power, useful for those who do frequent and light cleaning, the actual duration in our 15 days of testing was 55-65 minutes, perfectly in line with the plate data.
For more “deep” cleaning, the intermediate speed will normally be used and here the duration we have detected is 21-24 minutes more than enough to clean an apartment of 90-100 square meters. With the maximum speed it reaches about 8-10 minutes but it is advisable to use it only for large debris (pieces of biscuits) or, as mentioned, for cleaning sofas or mattresses with the small dedicated brush, which are certainly less frequent.
Keep in mind that the complete recharge of the battery lasts from 4 to 4.5 hours and therefore for very large apartments (above 100 meters) you must equip yourself with an additional battery or in the distribution of cleaning during the day. Obviously, if you also have a robot vacuum cleaner, you can dedicate the wireless model to finishing cleaning.
The two electric brushes and the other accessories
The main brush has a fairly standard size and allows you to perform the usual cleaning on floors of all kinds and is not designed specifically for carpets.
The brush has an internal flexible joint and allows a good angle of the whole; the 90 ° arrangement of the motor does not allow it to be brought flush with the floor (as is possible with the most recent Dyson axial motors) but it is possible to rotate the assembly by 90 ° to reach even more than half of a double bed. This ability is fundamental in the possibility of replacing a cylinder vacuum cleaner.
The smaller brush with roller is designed for cleaning mattresses and sofas; we can use it for thicker and more difficult to clean but obviously small rugs. We pay attention not to use it on rough or rough floors: the lower part has a sort of “bulge” of the plastic that can be abraded if the surface is not soft.
In both brushes it is easy to extract the internal rollers either by turning the side grip or by removing a protection at the bottom.
The other brushes do not have an electric coupling or a coupling / release system and are inserted under pressure into the receptacle of the motor body: this gives the whole a feeling of “instability” but we must say that in any case all the combinations are very effective and the range of brushes is able to satisfy any cleaning need.
We particularly appreciated the rigid joint (UP TOP as it is called on the Dyson V11) for cleaning above the furniture: in the towed Dyson we normally use this accessory was not available and it is not easy to find it in the kits of other wireless vacuum cleaners.
The crevice nozzle is combined (see photo above) with a brush with a retractable system and this can be slightly uncomfortable given the overall footprint that limits cleaning in the spaces between the radiators.
Noise
If there is one thing that makes us appreciate multi-speed systems is that it is not only possible to dose the suction power but also the level of noise emissions: in this case, at the higher power the noise is similar to that of a traditional vacuum cleaner. , maybe a little more hissing but we must say that in these conditions the suction capacity is such that it is difficult to detach the brush from the floor. At intermediate speed the Jimmy has an acceptable noise level and we will say “almost respectful” of peaceful family coexistence.

Conclusions
We have tried other vacuum cleaners of direct Chinese origin with more attractive materials and looks than this Jimmy JV83: polycarbonate instead of plastic certainly has a greater aesthetic appeal but this model has surprising power and cleaning effectiveness for a product of this range. price.
We have personally tested and appreciated the filtering level of the mattress brush with a hyperallergic subject and we must say that the set works excellently to cancel the bypass of mites and allergens in the cleaning cycle.
The maintenance of the components is very simple and the accessories are mounted very easily and, above all, they are able to cover any type of cleaning in the house. The price is undoubtedly commensurate with the versatility of the product.
Pro
Power, range of accessories, ease of cleaning, battery life. Very comfortable “mattresses” accessory with excellent performance.
Cons
Plasticky appearance. Some combined brushes reduce the ability to clean in confined spaces.
