Kospet Prime, review of the all-in-one smartwatch

Kospet Prime is a multi-function Android 7-based smartwatch with first-rate hardware, software and price features.

Anyone who thinks they have read the wrong thing is reassured, we wrote Android 7 and we mean just that, not the most widespread Android Wear: the difference with the competition always based on Google is basically this and represents the most interesting side as well as the one that needs more work.

But let's go in order and see how it works.

    Android, the first surprise.

Kospet Prime looks like a smartwatch right out of the box, square and sober: inside we find the smartwatch, the charging plate (with visible connectors) and a small screwdriver to open the rear drawer where the SIM is housed (optional) .

The heart of the smartwatch is in fact Android 7, in a version here lightened as much as possible to work on hardware that, while generous, is not a smartphone.

Users understand immediately from the first interactions that this is a very ambitious project: compared to Android Wear, in fact, Android 7 has many more possibilities, starting with the Google Play Store where you can download practically all the apps in the world.

On the other hand, however, the interaction automatisms are more difficult, because if it is true that many functions are optimized for the round display, they are not all and even the resolution is often a strong adaptation.

According to the writer, to initialize and use Kospet Prime you do not need to pair with a smartphone, which we have in any case carried out with an iPhone through the appropriate App, but which actually shows only the necessary data and does not allow any settings: basically, if you have a data SIM, your smartphone is useless.

1 of 3 Kospet Prime, recensione dello smartwatch all-in-one The shape is important, for a firm wrist Kospet Prime, recensione dello smartwatch all-in-one The thickness can be seen, but not disfigure Kospet Prime, recensione dello smartwatch all-in-one The female wrist should only be worn if she likes it

The hardware is really there of everything

Equipped with a large and very bright 1.6 ″ touch IPS display (400 x 400 pixels), in addition to the SIM compartment we have already talked about, the Kospet Prime also houses a heart rate sensor and two cameras, one that looks at the user (8.0 MP) and the other (2.0 MP) who instead looks over the hand.

The 1260mAh polymer battery looks impressive for a smartwatch, and is theoretically capable of keeping it alive for 72 hours: on this front we have noticed some misleading behavior.

On the one hand, it is true that the smartwatch easily holds up one day and one night, but you just need to activate an App to see the charge drain away unexpectedly: we recommend that you do not forget the charger at home if you intend to travel for more than a day.

    How does it work

To understand how Kospet Prime works we need to get into the perspective of a smartwatch with an adapted operating system, which is very different from native.

There are a dozen Faces, all very beautiful, both digital and analog, even if a bit of customization is missing.

Inside, an AppleWatch-style App menu allows you to select all the services and Apps available: with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of space it is possible to start many Apps, even if several of these do not offer interactivity suitable for a circular display.

The integrated services allow you to view your heartbeat (on request), track your daily steps (with calorie calculation), allow you to take pictures (from the two cameras and also to log in via Face ID, which is possible but in the end becomes redundant for a smartwatch.

Kospet Prime, recensione dello smartwatch all-in-one The use of the camera is very particular and unusual for a smartwatch: in addition to taking pictures it can also take videos, but the lens is still a strong compromise

The touch works, but every now and then it hesitates and you need to touch the display several times to get the right information: in the test weeks, however, we saw two system updates (performed automatically via Wi-Fi at 2.4 Ghz, the network at 5 Ghz was not seen) a sign that things are actively improving.

As for sports, the smartwatch has several built-in programs, with the results all displayed on the display, however the lack of a particular certification for sand, dust and water tends to presume a certain attention on certain types of activities.

    Considerations

In line with colleague Emiliano's review of the Vision model, the Kospet Prime is also recommended for those users who love a smartwatch that is completely independent from the smartphone, with which to play and discover wonders that an Android Wear will probably never have.

The shape convinces (but you need a firm, typically masculine wrist), the display and the Faces pure, minus the interaction and use for more practical things, where for the moment there is still too little naturalness.

The price in the end is a bit high, we admit it, for a growing product: but the features to amaze are all there (starting from the two cameras up to the Google Play Store) and if you want an independent smartwatch definitely out from the patterns then this is for you.

Kospet Prime, recensione dello smartwatch all-in-one A photo taken with the smartwatch and the front lens. The interactivity during shooting is a bit to review and often getting a good result is difficult

    Pros:

    • Large Display • Several Faces and well done • Dual cameras • Powerful battery

    Cons:

    • Consumption is not linear • Interactivity needs improvement • Some trivial operations are complex

    Price:

    • 206.74 Euro

Kospet Prime can be purchased directly from the pages of GearBest at the price of 206.74 Euros.
