When we were offered the test of this Lenovo Yoga Smart Tab we were a bit doubtful, because the Android tablet market is not experiencing a happy moment: crushed by the iPad on one side and by Google which thinks more about ChromeBooks than a real support. for this type of device it is necessary to elbow to emerge.
However, it must be admitted that there is no shortage of surprises here, for a product that stands out positively from the, unfortunately often thin, competition with some original features that should not be underestimated.
the shape is original, with the bulge in the lower part, but precisely for this reason it is crisp and like, in addition to a very good audio
Lenovo Yoga Smart Tab, the review
A look into the future, but beware of bad habits
The packaging looks very good, with a particular style that highlights Lenovo's care for its products and that recalls, in some details, the Motorola line.
Inside the box a few things: in addition to the device there are the power supply and the USB-A / USB-C cable: good news for those who have a computer with this connector or with Thunderbolt 3.
Too bad for too many stickers on the front of the device, which illustrate the main functions and operating modes, but it knows a little too much from a commercial Windows computer rather than an elite product such as this tablet wants to be. Fortunately, taking them off is not a problem.

Original
Once picked up, you immediately realize that it is a tablet whose original shape is eager to amaze and that (finally) new ways of design are being sought for this type of product.
The display, 10.1 “, with IPS Full HD (1920 x 1080) with TDDI technology appears particularly bright and is accompanied by a metal body covered in the back by a barely porous rubber, with the inscription Yoga in relief.

The connectors and buttons are placed on the side but it is the lower part of the tablet that provides the best insights. Two 2W JBL speakers with Dolby Atmos offer a round thickening that makes it clear that the sound system of this product is particularly refined.
The audio is in fact one of the strengths, especially in the films and TV series that we have been able to see (including the latest series of the beautiful “The Expanse” on Amazon Prime Video) and the integrated Dolby Atmos App allows a pleasant and detailed definition of your preferences, even if in some aspects it could be simplified.
In addition to this, we really liked the integrated stand, placed just behind, which allows you to place the Lenovo Yoga Smart Tab horizontally on a table on the fly, like hanging from a hook and working rotated 180 °.
The stand can also be used comfortably to hang the tablet, for example in the kitchen, away from water
Hardware
The tablet arrives equipped with an internal memory of 32GB, expandable via micro SD, even if for this type of device, streaming services (which do not take up space) such as music and videos, the cloud for documents and the possibility of using NAS for private files are very common.
In any case, the subtleties are not lacking here: there is the possibility of unlocking the tablet with facial recognition, an operation that works very well during the day (with a second delay) a little less at night, with here and some missing recognition in the dark, but nothing serious.
All this happens thanks to a single 8 MP front camera with autofocus (but there is a second, rear, 5 MP fixed focus camera).
In addition to this, it is possible to use Google's virtual assistant (no Alexa, except through the App) and an integrated system that allows you to synchronize some parameters with other Lenovo devices.
The whole is supported by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 processor, capable as far as we have seen, to run all the Apps we fed it, thanks also to the internal 4 GB RAM.
Software side
The operating system is Android 9: practically the latest commercial version (while we are writing, Android 10 is only for a very select few) with a highly customizable interface and a very wide availability of App.
The only problem that emerges, not so much in the management of the Apps and documents but more within the individual Apps is that the tablet here and there does not know that it is a tablet and thinks it is a very large phone, with some mandatory rotations. nonsense, some Apps that only work vertically and so on, a (dis) attention certainly not attributable to Lenovo, but which as a whole makes us turn up our noses.
The wealth of integrated solutions and backgrounds is pleasant, as is the presence of Lenovo solutions within it, and the interface with the Dolby system that emerges clearly in every App.
A small panel allows you to activate shortcuts on the fly, useful when for example watching a movie in full screen
Everyday
In everyday use, the tablet has proved capable: considering the cost, 249.00 Euros to the end user, it is an excellent product, capable of making those who buy it happy to use it at a consumer level (games, Apps, music, movies, social media, too bad that on Android there is no reference App for eBooks) with a 7,000 mAh battery that lasts a whole day, still having something for the next day.
The bulge due to the JBL speakers allows a comfortable grip when vertically while the stand is very comfortable when used horizontally.
The weight, 580 grams, is just higher than we expected but it is not a problem, in fact thanks to the enlarged handle it seems less thanks to a firmer grip.

Considerations
The use of this Lenovo Yoga Smart Tab turned out to be much more pleasant than we expected: for the cost it asks, it offers a lot and with an additional fifteen euros you buy an SD to offer a very important capacity.
The screen is brilliant, the audio important and the design solutions such as the retractable support very comfortable in everyday life.
Some imperfections in the software are assimilated after a while but the good results remain. It will not revolutionize the market but it can be a good solution at home, for those who do not want a computer but are looking for an original solution with an eye on the budget.
The enlargement is also convenient when using the tablet vertically, for better socket, as many eReaders do
Pros:
• Bright display • Excellent audio • Intriguing and comfortable design solutions • Unlock via facial recognition
Cons:
• Operating system not optimized for tablets
Price:
• 249.00 Euro
