Microsoft OneDrive wants to take the place of Google Photos and increases its functionality

Since Google Photos stopped providing unlimited, free storage at the end of last month, a highly coveted void has opened up in that industry. In our guide to the best alternatives to the media storage service offered by BigG, we had already mentioned OneDrive from Microsoft . For those who are already dealing with a Microsoft365 plan, this solution is particularly attractive , and soon it will be even more so . This is because the company is now rolling out a suite of editing tools for the web and Android (version 6.0+).

The suite will not be as complete as the one in Google Photos, but it should allow you to make some minor changes. You will in fact be able to crop, rotate or flip images but only in formats JPEG and PNG , as well as making light and color changes such as brightness, saturation, shadows.

In addition to basic editing tools, Microsoft is also trying to better organize your uploads . A soon to be implemented setting will in fact create folders for images from different sources . There will also be the possibility to group images by month or year , and to make it easier to find the desired images, it will also be possible to filter search to include specific folders . The new features are currently only available on the Web and Android versions, but should also reach the iOS app within the year .
