Home Reviews ,,,,, We recently tried Mpow's sports earphones, an affordable alternative to classic headphones that doesn't miss anything when the goal is to listen to music during workouts in the gym. In fact, they enjoy excellent soundproofing that completely isolate from external noises and remain stable in the ears even with sudden movements of the head.
How they are made
The whole structure is made of plastic with a rubberized cover. The cable is two-tone (black-red) flat, which significantly reduces tangles, and each earphone is accompanied by a large rubber headband crushed on the sides that improves the stability of the headset in the ears. The bows are very soft, they are worn easily but do not adhere well with all ears, especially with the smaller ones, where there is a lot of space and in some cases the headband does not even rest. Perhaps a system with wire that allows you to model around the ear of each user would have been more convenient.
The earphones are rectangular in shape, with rounded corners, and rather large (3.5 x 1.5 x 1 centimeters): despite the generous size they are still comfortable to wear and very easy to use. In fact, the space is best exploited to integrate a large button on the right headphone, below the company logo, which allows you to start / stop audio playback with a single click: it also manages the switching on and off of the headphones by pressing prolonged and in conversation with a click you answer or hang up a call, holding it down for a second refuses the incoming call and with a double click you can call back the last number.
On the upper side of the right headphone there are the (+) and (-) keys that allow you to adjust the volume or jump between the tracks being played, while on the opposite side, well protected by a rubber cap, there is the input microUSB for charging the internal battery.
The earphones are very light and are sold together with a very comfortable circular-shaped case inside which we also find some spare rubber pads of different sizes and a particular pair in Memory Foam that ensures a decidedly better grip of the headphones, even if it affects slightly – negatively – in general soundproofing.
How are they doing
The audio quality is very good indeed. It is superior to that of other headphones in the same price range especially as regards the amplification of the low frequencies, very present and well balanced with the rest of the sound spectrum.
In our tests we preferred them with Memory Foam rubbers for its better adherence to the ears, also due to the fact that the writer cannot stand the “sucking” effect of the classic rubbers, which create a sort of pressure inside the ears . With this type of supports, greater benefits are obtained when you want total soundproofing from external noise, so they are ideal in the gym or in closed areas, where having a watchful ear on what is happening in the surrounding environment does not affect. on your own safety. However, the Memory Foam rubbers are much more comfortable, in the long run they do not tire the ears and only slightly reduce the degree of soundproofing, filtering general noises but letting the loudest ones pass (such as the honking of a car horn. a few meters away).
As for the battery test, they play 6 hours of consecutive music on a single charge and fully recharge in about an hour and a half.
Conclusions and price to the public
If the budget is 20 euros, these headphones are among the best alternatives you can find on the market right now. They are not perfect but they ensure excellent stability in the ears, they are liked for the high degree of soundproofing from external noise and the audio quality is really very good, especially with songs where there is a great presence of low frequencies.
They are on sale on Amazon for 19.99 euros.
