Like every year, when a new iPhone comes out, the race to buy a cover is renewed. Apple devices are really expensive, and therefore in. many will certainly want to protect them, and why not embellish them, with a case. There is a manufacturer who, more than others, aims to compete directly with Apple in terms of quality and materials. It is Mujjo, who also this year launches his new line of covers for Apple devices. On test the Wallet Case and Case models, both in leather.
The Mujjo covers, we anticipate immediately, are certainly not the cheapest in the panorama. Not at least if you look at the list price. It is clear that these are accessories designed to last over time, and which therefore pay off with longevity: changing cheap covers every month, in the long run, will certainly cost more than these Mujjos, which will almost certainly be held throughout the year. life span of your iPhone.
We have talked about Mujjo several times in our pages. It is a Dutch company that has been in the Apple world for several years, and which focuses on high-end products, even for the price, and which therefore find Apple cases as direct competitors.
Leather Case Mujjo for iPhone 12
The first of the covers under hand is the simplest one. This is the Leather Case model, which faithfully reproduces those in Apple leather, and which are suitable for those who love a minimal style, without any internal or external pocket, and without other frills or decorations, except for the Mujjo logo engraved on the lower part. .
In the past years we have tested the same iPhone XS cover, and this new variant for the iPhone 12 is in fact very similar, except for the form factor, now optimized for the latest smartphones released, which have less rounded and more squared shapes. In all honesty, these new covers were immediately more comfortable than the previous ones. The square shape of the iPhone already helps its grip, and this pours into the cover, which is held even better in the hand than in the past.
Although they are not the thinnest covers on the market, even with these Mujjo covers the iPhone handles very well, acquires a greater grip, giving a feeling of quality in the hand. In short, you feel that it is a high-end cover.
It is made entirely of leather, dyed with vegetable colors, treated to become rigid enough to hook precisely and securely to the phone and protect it from scratches and minor bumps. Moreover, these covers have the particularity of improving with use: the leather, in fact, acquires a special patina over time, which, although it gives that aesthetic of “lived cover”, improves its aesthetics, and makes it unique.
This new line of covers entirely envelops the terminal, with a frame that protrudes 1mm above the front glass, and which therefore aims to protect the device from small drops and scratches. The small step that creates the frame of the case above the screen prevents the smartphone from touching a surface if you turn the phone face down. The cover is even more protective at the corners, which are fully covered.
As already mentioned, the cover is among the simplest, without back pockets for credit cards or documents, which instead characterize the second line of Mujjo, the one called Wallet Case, which we will talk about later.
Of particular importance, the presence of a microfiber cloth that wraps the cover inside it, which makes contact with the back and edges of the iPhone absolutely safe. This way you absolutely avoid scratching the iPhone, especially the outer frame. As always, in the seams of this cover, both inside and outside, there are no imperfections of any kind, nor on the seams, nor are there any glue smears.
Among the peculiarities is also the one related to the cover of the keys, also in leather, but which allow the buttons to be used in an absolutely comfortable way, even if we have to take the hand slightly. Let's explain better. Right at the frets, the skin is absolutely soft and slightly raised. The sensation of pressing the keys is that of a “double stroke button”. At the frets, the skin practically offers no resistance, a very light pressure being enough to deform it.
Only the mute button is completely uncovered, so as to be used as if the cover were not present. The lower frame is also open; this particular allows, not only to connect the Lightning cable without any problem, but also to house the cover to any dock, without thickness problems. Obviously, the lower open flap will still be protected by the fact that the edges of the cover protrude by 1mm, and therefore the lower frame is in any case slightly recessed and not in direct contact with the surfaces, even during a light impact.
As for the color, also this year Mujjo has chosen to keep the shade called Monaco Blue. It is no longer unprecedented for Mujjo, but the choice is certainly rewarded by the fact that this year Apple has released the blue color for the iPhone 12, which, moreover, from a recent survey appears to be the favorite of the public.
It is a really nice color, a dark blue, which is probably more suited to a male audience.
Leather Wallet Case
The other model under test is the Wallet Case, which differs from the first in the presence of a credit card pocket sewn on the back. If the quality remains the same, as well as the materials used and the feeling in everyday use, what changes is the presence of this “pocket” on the back.
This is an even more refined choice than the previous one, which does not weigh too much, neither the view, nor certainly the weight of the cover, which remains almost unchanged. The back pocket is impeccably sewn, and even the thread used has the same color as the cover. These are not insignificant details, because they serve to make the cover cured in every detail.
Note that the pocket is very adherent to the cover, therefore rather “narrow”. At least initially, before slightly enlarging it with use, only one credit card will enter, and it will stay in place in a particularly firm way: initially it will also be done to remove them. In this way, however, credit cards or documents will certainly be safe, secure, and prevented from accidentally falling.
The back pocket is certainly a winning choice, which in many cases will allow you to leave the house without even a wallet: iPhone, Wallet Case, driving license and some banknotes. You won't need anything else.
All the above considerations apply: quality, materials, and touch and feel remain the same. The color line is also the same as the simple model, with the possibility of choosing black, leather, blue and olive green.
In conclusion, the Leather and Wallet Case for iPhone 12 by Mujjo are once again recommended products to all those who are not looking for the classic multicolored plastic case, and who do not want to change covers every week, perhaps buying them for a few euros.
