Nebula projector review, from Anker the 100 inch can format

Home Hi-Tech Audio / Video / TV / Streaming ,,,,, The size of a can, Cyber Layman puts the Nebula Anker projector to the test, which allows you to project content up to 100 inches without annoying cables around the house. Definitely an interesting idea, at an overall low price. Already photographed at the last CES 2018, the idea of a pocket projector was made known by the company at the end of 2017. All in all it took a few months to reach our territory as well. Here's what we think.

  • 1 How it's made
  • 2 Technical characteristics
  • 2.1 Hardware
  • 2.2 Interface and controls
  • 3 Software
  • 4 How do you see?
  • 4.1 How do you feel
  • 5 Connectivity and HDMI input
  • 6 Conclusions
  • How it's done

It is evident, the main advantage of the Nebula Anker projector is the aesthetic factor. It is as big as any canned drink. Smaller than many bluetooth speakers on the market today. It does not fit in the pocket due to its rounded shapes, but can be carried in any backpack or pouch, also thanks to the bag included in the sales bundle. It measures approximately 6.8 x 6.8 x 12 cm, for 470 grams of weight. It is therefore easy to understand what the merit of this projector is: it can be easily held in the hand and placed on any shelf in the house, to project the contents on a smooth surface: a blank wall is sufficient to obtain satisfactory results, as long as in a completely dark room. Among the uses, it is conceivable the projection of images on the roof of the house, placing the projector next to you on the bed or on the sofa. This is the main use of Nebula Anker, which, far from professional and super expensive solutions, allows you to have a 100 inch home in one click, without too much difficulty.

    Technical features

The technical data sheet obviously betrays the cost-effectiveness of this solution. As already mentioned, we are not dealing with a professional projector, for which a few thousand euros would not be enough. Nebula Anker offers a Native resolution of 854 × 480, a maximum brightness of 500 lumens and a longevity for the lamp, assures the manufacturer, of 30,000 hours. It projects a beam with a 16: 9 aspect ratio and offers a projection ratio of up to 100 inches at 3.08 meters away, 80 inches at 2.46 m, 60 inches at 1.73 m and 40 inches at 1.15 m. You cannot adjust the size of the projected panel except by moving the projector away or closer to the wall. In other words, it will not be possible to decide at 1.15 meters to obtain a diagonal lower or higher than 40 inches: at each distance you will have to be satisfied with a single size in inches.

The Nebula projector needs manual focus, which is why at any distance you will have to “play” with the side wheel to focus the lens. It is simple and immediate, even if to get a perfect result you will have to lose a few more seconds. During our tests we had difficulty in focusing the whole picture: when the upper part seemed perfectly in focus, the writings at the bottom were slightly out of focus, and vice versa. In any case, after a while, the result will be appreciable.

Nebula offers Front / Rear / Ceiling Front / Ceiling Rear projection modes and most importantly an automatic keystone correction (± 40 ° vertical). This means, for example, being able to project the light beam without the projector being perfectly at the right height, with the horizon aligned with the wall. It will be possible to project the image from the bottom upwards, obtaining a well-made trapezoidal correction.

    Hardware

    At its core, Nebula Anker is powered by a Quad Core A7 processor, Adreno 304 GPU, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of onboard memory eMMC. It has an integrated 5200 5200mAh battery and a 5W speaker, 802.11a / b / g / n Wi-Fi connectivity, 2.4 / 5GHz dual frequency, BT4.0 Dual Mode / A2DP and a rather silent fan, a
