In summer, in the city or at the sea, there are few things that capture the attention of passers-by like a Hoverboard, which mixes that sense of adventure, curiosity and freedom: the Nilox DOC Hoverboard Off Road is a model capable of offering all these characteristics, however, combining a certain freedom off the road, which is no small feat, given that the Italian law on the road is not yet very clear in this regard.
We had the opportunity to try it in the countryside, as can be seen from the images accompanying the article, being able to appreciate all its characteristics in the strangest terrains: it is not a real off-road vehicle for obvious reasons, but it does not mind a climb or a bumpy road. on occasion.
Power to sell
The first thing you notice in the Nilox DOC Hoverboard Off Road are undoubtedly the wheels, whose dimensions exceed those of the Nilox Doc + model we talked about last year, both in width and in depth.
These wheels are obviously designed to offer a greater traction surface on non-flat terrain and which offer little grip, where a larger surface favors grip under acceleration and greater stability, also thanks to the width of the body.
Nilox DOC Hoverboard Off Road not only has bigger wants, but the whole structure is generous. This is why the weight increases by 1 kg (12 kg) due to the two motors (two not one as in different cheaper models, a factor not to be underestimated) of 350W each, capable of keeping the guest for a trip of 20. Km, even if not continuous.

Put in use
The Nilox hoverboard does not need a proper assembly; once taken out of the box together with the charger, just keep it charged for a couple of hours to have full life (even if there is no visual feedback in this case).
Then you need a calibration, a fairly simple operation that can be done in a minute, and you are ready to go: we used it both on a (private) paved road and in the garden, a sector where the little one behaved very well, even uphill, showing their limits not so much in the inability to hold up some bumps, but in the fact that facing them means putting a strain on your balance.
The noise is very low and is practically due to the simple hum, however pleasant, of the wheels on the ground: the charging connector is located in the rear part next to the power button, while in the upper part in the center, there is the icon of battery charge. On the other hand, there are two small blue LED lights, useful only at night.
On the road (and not)
During the tests we were decidedly “rude”, not only because the ground on which it was put into operation for most of the time is very steep, but also because the pilot was mostly the little boy of the house, famous for the neglect of the rules safety.
The little ones take very little to learn how to ride a Hoverboard, with an estimated time of about ten minutes accompanied by an adult who supports them for the first few times, then they detach and it's like riding a bicycle, you learn and enough.
Adults are more fearful, even if no less curious: the fear of falling forward or backward is always present, but in the opinion of the writer it is often unfounded.
Balance on the Nilox DOC Hoverboard Off Road is the key, and once the body understands the movements driving on concrete is quite simple, maybe a little less on the lawn, due to the unevenness of the terrain, but it is an obstacle that can be overcome with a little practice. It takes a few tens of minutes to master the whole system.
After that, even if you don't get on it for several months, once you get back your body remembers the movements perfectly and it's just a matter of understanding the adjustment of the sensors, which help a lot.
In the opinion of the writer to date, a Hoverboard is a fun toy, not yet a classic means of transport because the law is not yet clear and because the roads are generally not ready, with the exception perhaps of some tourist locations where a pedestrian street.

Conclusions
Of all the models tested, the Nilox DOC Hoverboard Off Road is certainly the most complete, and not only for the power infused, but also for its ability to not be so picky in the streets (it is also IP54 certified for water) and in places where there is no road and, we are sure, it can make the happiness of any child who loves being outdoors, as well as those who, like myself, are no longer.
With summer just around the corner, the Nilox DOC Hoverboard Off Road is an interesting choice, even for those who play sports because, we can assure you, staying 20 km in balance on two wheels puts a strain on the calves with mostly unusual movements.
The cost of 499.95 Euros on the official Nilox website, we admit, is important but it can be found very discounted on Amazon.it both in the normal version and in the Plus version with Bluetooth connection and integrated speakers.
