Home Cyber Layman Photo and Video Galleries ,,,,, In recent weeks, the Cyber Layman editorial team has received Hammo TV on trial, a kit including a wireless headphone and support specially designed for use in combination with a TV. It is an excellent solution that provides everything you need to bring the audio stream of films, programs and TV series directly into the headphones alongside any TV, old or new generation. In this way you can both watch TV even late at night without disturbing it, or give it to an elderly relative to allow him to follow his favorite programs without necessarily having to turn up the TV volume to the maximum.
In the packaging
In the sales package, in addition to the headphones, we find a stand to place them on a piece of furniture that also has the function of a transmitter for the wireless signal and offers a USB socket useful for recharging the battery of the headphones (also wanting a smartphone) and a bag for store them in a drawer for long periods. There are also two 3.5mm jack-to-jack cables, power supply and microUSB cable for the transmitter and a cable with 3.5mm jack female input and RCA audio output (white and red).
How the stand is made
The support consists of two parts: a base (13 x 11 x 2.2 cm) in satin and rather heavy plastic (254g) – this is to the advantage of its final stability – and a metal arm (height 20cm) whose apex is slightly curved and reinforced by a rubber insert to ensure excellent stability of the headphones when resting on it. Assembling the two parts is a snap: just fit the metal arm to the base by means of the two holes.
Stability is further enhanced by four rubber feet on the bottom of the base. On the front we find a single button to turn on the transmitter, while on the rear edge there are the microUSB outputs for power supply, 3.5mm jack for audio connection and USB for charging a device.
How headphones are made
The headphones fold back on themselves to take up little space for example inside a drawer or bag (about 13 x 18 x 7 cm), and are quite light (260 gr). The whole structure is in opaque plastic, with a metal carving on the outside of the two pavilions for the company logo. The internal core of the headband – whose length is adjustable – is made of metal, as are the hinges that allow you to fold the headphones. The inner side of the headband is sufficiently padded with foam rubber or something similar, with a leather-like cover that is very comfortable, soft and delicate when worn.
We also find the same type of padding – and therefore the same sensations – for the coverage of the pavilions, which are also very large (the internal opening measures 4 x 6.5 cm, externally instead it measures 8 x 10 cm. also be slightly inclined to better adapt to the shape of the head when wearing the headphones.
Trying to twist them the creaks of the plastic are evident, even if in general the impression you get when handling them is that of a good quality product and made to last.
How do they work
To use them, simply connect the 3.5mm jack cable to the respective output on the TV: if it is not present, you will have to rely on the stereo output (white and red cable) using the adapter in the package. In both cases the audio output of the TV must flow into the AUX socket on the back of the support base. The latter must also be powered by connecting the microUSB cable to the mains via the power supply or using – where available – a USB output on the TV itself.
Once the connection is complete, all that remains is to turn on the TV, then the base of the stand (press and hold the ON / OFF button for 3 seconds) and the headphones by pressing the power button located on the rear edge of the left pavilion. The connection between headphones and transmitter takes place in 5-10 seconds, depending on the distance between the two parts (maximum 10 meters).
Even if the headphones are correctly connected to the TV, we will continue to listen to the sound of the current program through the speakers of the TV (or the external audio system normally in use): if you want to listen to the TV only through headphones you will need lower the volume of the TV to maximum with the relative remote control and instead adjust that of the headphones with the buttons accessible on the back of the left ear cup.
How do they work
In the past we have experimented with the use of Bluetooth headphones by connecting them to the TV through a Bluetooth transmitter / receiver. The main difference with the Hammo TV system is first of all in the speed of connection between the two parts: in fact, if you move further than 10 meters, the connection is interrupted but is automatically resumed and in a flash as soon as you return within range. action. Furthermore, we have never encountered any latency problems when listening to TV programs: we have never encountered interruptions, slowdowns or misalignments of the video track with the audio one which often are annoying even when the final difference is a few milliseconds between one and the other. 'other.
The audio quality is also remarkable: the headphones reproduce very well even the low frequencies, with a truly enveloping sound and in some ways even better than that of the built-in speakers of our TV. Even the advertisements are more charged and rich in sounds, with frequencies (especially low ones) that the speakers of our TV instead tend to cut very often.
They also seemed excellent from the point of view of autonomy: we used them for about two hours a day for two weeks – weekends excluded – and they have not yet discharged: the manufacturer ensures over 50 hours of continuous listening with a single charge.
Conclusions
Of the Hammo TV headphones we appreciated the ease of installation and practicality of use, which is also reflected in the transmitter that works as a stand (or, depending on the point of view, by the stand with integrated transmitter). Being able to leave them hanging near the TV is in fact an added value of the product, which will always be at hand.
The audio quality is excellent and free from any transmission problems. Excellent the possibility of isolating the TV audio to ensure listening to the single user with headphones for TV series marathons at night, as well as that of enhancing the sound of a film for an elderly person without forcing the whole family to turn up. the overall volume of the TV too much.
