WhatsApp has introduced a function that allows you to make group calls and video calls on its application: it is already active, even in Italy, on both iOS and Android, and up to four people can participate at the same time. To use it, simply start a single phone call or video call and tap the new button that appears at the top right to add more participants.
Video calls have been available on WhatsApp since 2016, but until now, like phone calls, they could only be used with one contact at a time. The group calls were announced by WhatsApp at a Facebook event last May.
In the same statement announcing the boost in calls (“designed to work reliably under different network conditions”), WhatsApp says its users – 1.5 billion active at the beginning of 2018 – spend two billion minutes a day on call or video call with the application.
