One for All URC 7955 is a universal remote control for those who have a living room populated by smart devices (and not only): next to the TV (smart or minus), nowadays it is not difficult to find DVD / Blu-Ray players, consoles, set-top-box sound bars such as Apple TV or Chromecast, and for the more daring even some NAS (which as we have seen here can be connected to the TV for viewing local content).
Obviously all these have a remote control, physical or virtual, but you know, the remote controls break, get lost, download and can be comfortable or uncomfortable depending on the cases: moreover, having a single remote control is much more convenient. One for All tries with URC 7955 with characteristics that are particularly effective on very crowded living rooms and for medium-advanced (and demanding) users.
Classic appearance
The remote has a fairly classic appearance, a plastic skeleton with rubbery black keys. The shape is quite elongated, but well balanced, so it fits in the hand without any imbalances that would lead to frequent falls: nevertheless we can say that these, during the trial period, were there (as is normal in all homes, especially if with children) but the plastic has cushioned the repeated challenges with gravity well without reporting obvious dents.
The only defect we found, however a bit funny, was in the opening of the battery compartment, very hard with a door that opened only by forcing a lot. It must be said that once the batteries have been changed, the operation will not be repeated for many months.
The first configuration phase arrives on the track: as regards TVs and the most famous devices reference is made to the internal library, while for the others it is enough to capture the signal using the original remote control, placing them one in front of the other.
The remote memorises up to eight devices, and One for All promises to also support future devices that have not yet been released thanks to the associated App for iPhone or Android: however, there is a web form on the site to check compatibility.
We didn't like it. however the scarcity of information about the App, whose use is cryptic to say the least in the initial stages and would need some more info, which we found in the site's FAQ but not in the manual.

Another function are the Macros, which allow key bindings, such as the ability to start a disc on the Blu-Ray player by also changing the output (if you is watching TV, all with one button) or to turn on Apple TV and TV together.
Two hands are better than one
We have been using the URC 7955 for some time, but we have mainly focused on the Apple TV 4 and the matching TV. a.
Given the premise that Apple TV does not require a particular remote control, because the tvOS can also operate with the TV remote control with a simple pairing process, the URC 7955 will it is proven excellent with intelligent functions and well thought out in the use of different devices, all present in the living room.
The Macros, the merge of a device with the TV for intelligent commands are simple operations but that when sitting in an armchair they are appreciated, without having to decrypt the classic remote control to remember the right sequences.
Even the association processes with TV and other media are often completely automatic and not at all difficult, contrary to the more advanced functions, which instead are very vertical and perhaps not suitable for everyone, given that there is no display to display feedback that is sometimes necessary.
An object that still looks beautiful figure in the living room, sending the other 4-5 others into the drawer nts present and that promises a long life in the future also for the change of TV (especially) thanks to the App and the manual association.
