Oracle could partner with TikTok in the United States

According to the Wall Street Journal, information technology firm Oracle will be TikTok's new technology partner for app operations in the United States. On September 13, Microsoft announced that TikTok had rejected its offer. It is not yet clear whether TikTok's choice of Oracle as a technology partner also means the acquisition of a majority stake by the company that owns the app, the Chinese ByteDance. The transfer of control of the app to US companies for operations in the country has become impossible for ByteDance to avoid after two executive orders from President Donald Trump.

The first, signed on August 6, prohibited any US person or company from having commercial relations with ByteDance. In the executive order, Trump argued that TikTok was a threat to the United States due to the close and opaque ties the ByteDance company has with the Chinese government and the large amount of data the app collects on its American users. In the second, on August 15, he gave ByteDance 90 days to cede control of the social network in the United States.
