Oukitel is known in the world of Android smartphones for its particularly economical proposals; the one under test Macitynet, Oukitel C5 Pro, maintains the tradition, offering a smartphone at a truly “low cost” price, of course to be taken into consideration only as a real forklift, or as a terminal for alternative uses, to be given to children or , why not, to a parent who wants to keep in touch via instant messaging app.
Oukitel C5 Pro, useless to go around it, does not have a nice aesthetic. The front is rather simple and minimal, with only the soft touch keys in plain sight, not backlit. It is on the back that it does not give its best, offering a removable back cover, ugly to the eye, not too elegant or refined. There is, however, to say, in defense of the terminal, that the purpose of this Oukitel C5, as also advertised by the manufacturer, is to be a resistant terminal. On the net, the same company has shown how it is possible to torture the device, even turning it into a hammer to drive nails, without scratching it. If you add the included silicone cover, massive and bulky, the terminal becomes almost indestructible.
Certainly appreciable, because it shows resistance to possible falls or to a particularly “careless” use, such as that of a particularly young audience. Despite being a 5-inch, therefore usable with one hand due to its small size, equal to 72 x 144.6 x 9.3 mm, Oukitel C5 is not a featherweight, close to 170 grams in weight. A little heavy, then, but massive and strong. Even the front glass, which although to the touch is not perceived as premium, is particularly resistant: in short, the intent of the terminal is precisely this, to be indestructible, so that it can be used in total tranquility, without paying too much attention to how it is handled. .
List the technical characteristics , and getting lost in this chat would be useless: Oukitel C5 is not a terminal for those looking for top performance. The CPU is the classic MediaTek MTK6737 Quad Core at 1.3 GHz, supported by 2 GB of RAM and 16 of integrated memory. HD only screen and 5 MP rear (8mp at software level) and 2 MP front cameras (which become 5 MP at software level). In short, in everyday life it works and allows you to access messaging apps, emails, browsers, without being able to expect too much, especially from a videogame point of view: it is not a smartphone to play.
This does not mean, however, that it is a useless terminal. It has already been said about its robustness, therefore suitable to take magare with you during a trip out of town, without having to worry about breaking it, or giving it to your children. The utility is also in the double SIM, which allows you to house two cards, without giving up the expansion of Micro SD, present on a separate compartment.
Oukitel C5 is a terminal for use really basic, and even taking pictures will not return maximum satisfaction. The 5 MP camera does not offer excellent performance: you can take just enough photos with optimal light, while in the dark the terminal gives the worst of itself. The mediatek software is slow in shooting, especially with active flash and low light. The front chamber, on the other hand, is particularly poor. Also in this case it must be taken into account that we are faced with an extremely low cost terminal, which serves as a second phone, where to put two SIMs for various needs, to be given to children to watch movies on YouTube and to their parents for some WhatsApp conversation and Skype video calls.
The 2000 mAh battery , poor on paper, actually manages to carry in the evening , thanks to the display and CPU that do not require too much energy. Also, just for use as a second phone, it won't get stressed out that much during the day.
The system operating is Android Marshmallow, and difficult, almost impossible, to think of an update to Nougat. It is rather stock even if the icons are customized by Oukitel: acceptable, even if not too modern, those of the pre-installed apps, rather ugly those third parties, when you start installing different applications from the Google Play Store.
Conclusions
Oukitel C5 Pro is a smartphone from 79 euros on Amazon, while on sites like Gearbest it is even found for 60 euros. We should not expect, then, top performance, but use as a second phone, convenient for the dual SIM and for the general robustness, which allows you to use it without worrying too much about being delicate and careful. Recommended, above all, to give it to children, or to a parent who does not want to give up being connected.
On Amazon it costs 79 euros, while on Gearbest it has a price that is around 60 euros, in the different colors white, gold, silver and black.
