Home Hi-Tech Android World ,,,,, In a world of smartphones that compete to stand out in aesthetics and be increasingly thin, Oukitel K10000 Pro distances itself, to focus on something else: the battery in the first place. If you want to forget the charger at home during a weekend away, then this is the smartphone you are looking for. But don't ask him to be beautiful.
The first thing that stands out about this Oukitel K10000 Pro is certainly its monstrous dimensions. Forget thin and light smartphones, beautiful to look at: useless to go around it, the smartphone under test does not make the aesthetic factor its best feature. Or rather, it does not respond to today's standards that increasingly aim at a minimal look. With an integrated monstre battery of 10,000 mAh (yes, ten thousand!) It is impossible to expect small dimensions: Oukitel K10000 Pro has dimensions of 161.7 x 77.8 x 14 mm thick (yes, it is 1.4 cm thick) with a weight of 288 grams. It almost seems to have an important power bank in your hands, and it is difficult to “hide” it in your pocket.
This, however, is the “burden” to pay for a smartphone that ensures old-fashioned autonomy, with over 10 hours of screen on and several days of use. On an aesthetic level, the terminal is very reminiscent of the line of the very expensive Vertu, with a very similar cut, evident metal frames with screws that emerge from the body, calfskin on the back and a very showy camera compartment with metal inserts and screws always visible, where a fingerprint sensor is also inserted.
Power and volume button on the left side, 3.5mm jack on the top and MicroUSB charging connector on the bottom. On the front stands the 5.5-inch Full HD display, with touch keys outside the screen, with a particularly heavy design also on the front, where metal inserts always stand out.
The aesthetic factor, as already mentioned, does not exalt: or rather, it does not want to come close to today's standards, made of thin chassis and clean lines. Even the accessories are very bulky to the eye, such as the leather case included in the sales bundle, rather generous in size: a real handbag, rather than a smartphone sleeve.
Oukitel K10000 Pro will not be chosen, then, for its design, but for its main feature, namely the battery. As anticipated it is from 10,000 mAh, and ensures autonomy above the average of any other smartphone. With mild use there will be several days of use possible, with over 10 hours of screen on. In short, it is possible to hypothesize leaving the battery charger at home during a trip out of town for an entire weekend.
This is the feature that provides a reason for the purchase, certainly having to deal with a certainly evident thickness, and with a weight that is certainly higher than any other smartphone available on the market. Even on the recharge side, Oukitel K10000 Pro works wonders: it takes less than three hours to bring the percentage to 100%. It may seem like a rather long charging time, but it is not: just think that power banks with the same energy reserve take over 10 hours to recharge completely.
The data sheet of the terminal certainly does not cry out for a miracle. Oukitel K10000 Pro is based on a Mediatek MT6750 Octa Core processor at 1.5 GHz, Mali T860 GPU, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal memory expandable via Micro SD up to 64 GB, Dual Sim connectivity, LTE with B20 band, 5 megapixel front camera and 13 megapixel rear camera, seasoned with a latest generation software side, Android 7.0 Nougat, frustrated however by the classic MediaTek graphic customizations that are absolutely prehistoric.
Without paying too much attention to the numbers, Oukitel K10000 Pro is used well and in everyday life does not give particular signs of lag, nor of various slowdowns. You use the entire Android ecosystem without any limitations, you surf the net well, you manage all instant messaging, including emails, in a fluid way. Overall, behind the gigantic appearance, there is a well usable terminal in hand. Too bad, as mentioned, to the customizations of MediaTek, which also make the new Android 7.0 old. If the Android Nougat menus are modern, some installed apps, such as the gallery, the calendar, and others, appear to belong to an era that is too old. And then, it will be the case to put your hand to the Play Store to download all the most modern applications: it is a very simple operation, but having such old apps installed on a 2017 terminal is not a little out of place.
The operation of the fingerprint sensor on the back is standard: not the worst ever seen in a Chinese terminal, but certainly not the most reliable. It is not reached particularly well, due to the 1.4 cm thickness, and unlocks the terminal 7 times out of 10.
Multimedia
From a terminal that makes the battery its main feature, we expected a very bad photographic department, or almost. It is not so. Certainly the photos are not comparable to the current top of the range, and not even in the medium quality range, but overall Oukitel K10000 Pro takes appreciable photos, but only in optimal lighting conditions. These are sufficient shots, with faithful and bright colors, even if the rear sensor seems to suffer particularly from the sunlight. The 5 MP front sensor also offers sufficient selfies: nothing particularly qualitative, but better than many other Chinese terminals of the same price.
Battery
The real highlight of the terminal is of course, the 10,000 mAh battery. During our tests we managed to download it in a day and a half, but putting all our effort into it and using the smartphone as a real game console, as well as using it for several hours as a router hotspot and GPS navigator. With normal use, however, it is possible to overcome even two days of use in peace.
Conclusions
Not beautiful, it does not respect the minimal standards imposed by the modern era. Not thin, not light, nor portable in a trouser pocket. Oukitel K10000 Pro has autonomy on its side: it is a terminal suitable for those who often go away from home on weekends and do not want to carry any cable with them to recharge the battery. It can be used well in everyday life, net of size and weight, and allows you to take photos of sufficient quality in optimal lighting conditions.
Price and availability Oukitel K10000 Pro can be purchased on Amazon for about 180 euros, while on GearBest it has a price of 153 euros, directly to this address.
