Aesthetics

This is really the summary of Oukitel U16 Max, which does not offer exceptional technical characteristics, but which aims to provide the user with an experience as close to a tablet, with the possibility of making calls and take advantage of all Android messaging systems. The front is obviously dominated by the large display, from 6 inches diagonally, although unfortunately surrounded by a showy black frame, which is probably most noticeable on the white model of the terminal, while it is hidden on the black one. The three touch keys (not backlit) are placed outside the display, thus leaving the panel completely available to apps and the Android UI. The Micro USB port is on the bottom, the headphone jack on the top, while the volume rocker and power button on the side.
On the back, in addition to the room, to be honest, there is also a sensor for fingerprint recognition. As for speed, but above all reliability, the Oukitel Touch ID manages to get enough, unlocking the terminal 7 times out of 10.

On paper, the 3 GB of RAM are the main drawback of this smartphone, which however has rather modest characteristics, starting with the screen: 6-inch diagonal, for a resolution only HD. The processor is the classic MediaTek MT6753, side by side makes a Mali T720 GPU. Good internal storage from 32 GB, expandable via MicroSD, as long as you sacrifice the second SIM card. Although the screen resolution, only HD, could be scary on a 6-inch diagonal, in reality the display of this Oukitel U16 Max is not a sore point. Very bright, it can be seen well even in sunlight, it offers appreciable colors and overall it is strangely enjoyable: judging by the characteristics, we would have expected worse from a 6-inch 720p, and instead, from this point of view you can be satisfied .
In everyday use U16 Max allows you to fully enjoy the messaging apps, social networks, and you can surf in complete tranquility even on rather demanding sites. Of course, the mail department also works perfectly, as does the call department. The audio in the capsule is good, while the speakerphone one, in addition to a medium volume only, suffers from a not excellent quality, with particularly cold and almost robotic audio, which causes greater discomfort in the reproduction of multimedia contents.
Oukitel U16 Max, due to the 6-inch diagonal could attract gamers, although unfortunately the technical configuration will not allow you to better appreciate the heavier 3D titles: no problem, however, for casual games, where it is not necessary to squeeze the processor. and video cards.
Multimedia
Weak point of the terminal, without a shadow of a doubt, is the photographic department. The unattractive graphical interface that distinguishes all MediaTeks (which can actually be circumvented by downloading any third-party photographic app) is accompanied by a really poor quality of the shots. It is difficult to think of taking beautiful photos with this terminal, even in optimal lighting conditions. The 13 megapixels mentioned in the data sheet are, in no uncertain terms, a red herring. We do not feel, however, to criticize the quality of the shots too much, because we are talking about a terminal with a price of just over 100 euros, which has a very definitive target, and which has a 6-inch screen on its side. : hard to find at this price a device with such a large panel. Software
A mention deserves the software, based on Android Nougat 7.0. If at 90% it offers a stock experience, however, there are some gestures that allow, as far as possible, one-handed use. In fact, not only is it possible to restrict the entire interface, but there is also a system of circular icons, which appears in the lower right corner if called up with a slide: in this way the thumb, even during use for one hand, can call up applications, quick toggles and other quick settings.
In addition, although it has very old icons, Oukitel provides a small hub where you can download themes, with undoubtedly more modern graphics. They are not many, but those present really manage to modernize a UI, otherwise old and no longer in line with the minimalism imposed by this new technological era.
Battery
The strength of the terminal is the 400 mAh battery, which play strength contributes to significantly weigh down the terminal. Is there a reason to buy this terminal? Yes, the dimensions, as long as you are looking for a terminal capable of offering an experience halfway between a smartphone and a tablet, while accepting all the compromises of a technical side that is only sufficient. It is not a camera phone, but the generous size is accompanied by an equally generous battery, which will cover the day of heavy use, or even a day and a half of milder use.
