Philips Hue lights integrate with Spotify to change color to the beat of the music

Philips has partnered with Spotify to bring music sync to your Hue lights. Users with a Philips smart lighting system will be able to synchronize their Spotify account in the 'Hue Sync' app and create a synchronized playback that will allow you to modify the color and intensity of the lights automatically.

Until now, it was possible to create this effect through 'Hue Sync', Signify's app to control Philips smart lights. The application detected the music through the microphones of the smartphone and initiated a synchronization between the lights. The function, however, forced to keep the device on and the synchronization between music and lights, in addition, was not so precise.

Now, it will be the Philips Bridge that will detect the music that is playing . In this way, you can change the colors and intensity of the lights, even when the smartphone is locked. Therefore, for the new system to work, users will need to have a Philips Hue Bridge and the bulbs will need to be linked to this connection bridge.

Newer bulbs, which are Bluetooth enabled and therefore can be connected independently, will not be able to be part of the light show if they are not linked to a bridge . In addition, those lights that do not have the possibility of changing the color, will not be able to synchronize with the music either.

The Philips Hue will also detect the genre, melody or rhythm of the music to adapt the colors and lighting to the song that is playing. The new feature will be available soon for both premium and free Spotify accounts. These will need to be linked via the Philips app.

The new Philips Hue can now display two colors at the same time

In parallel, Philips has announced new smart lights and bulbs. Among them, a new light tube that will create the ambilight effect so characteristic of Philips televisions, in those of other manufacturers. The LED strip and the Signe floor and table lamps have also been renewed with the possibility of transmitting several colors at the same time.

On the other hand, Philips has launched new smart bulbs with filament lights that adopt a more classic design and change both intensity and hue. As well as a new ceiling called Infuse that allows to create an atmosphere of lights on the ceiling.
