Home Cyber Layman Mac Accessories ,,,,,Unlike other USB-C HUBs that have a “tail”, in the sense that they connect with the MacBook Pro via a USB-C cable, the QacQoc GN28K integrates perfectly with the latter, attaching itself to the side shell to look “almost” a part of the design.
From a purely aesthetic point of view it is the best thing, but usability suffers a little: let's see it in detail in the complete test.
QacQoc GN28K, the review
To be held tight
The packaging of the QacQoc GN28K is very simple but accurate: together with the HUB there is a brown leather bag that reminds us of those of the most classic Swiss pocket knives.
Not that it changes the substance, but the coverage is still nice and designed not for the youngest but for those who appreciate subtlety of the genre.
For the rest, the HUB alone performs all the functions: on the one hand there are the two USB-C connectors perfectly aligned with the two side Thunderbolt sockets of the MacBook Pro, on the other hand there are two USB-A sockets, an SD reader and one MicroSD and two USB-C pass-through sockets, which allow powering the Mac and connecting a USB-C peripheral.
Finally, in one of the short sides, the HDMI connector can support a 4K signal up to 30Hz. Interestingly, once in use there are no cables fluttering, which will delight those who appreciate the minimalist design of Macs.

“Two is better than uan”
The peculiarity of the design of the QacQoc GN28K is certainly the fact that it connects to the MacBook Pro (and only this, models from 2016 to today) using the two side Thunderbolt sockets, one for data passage the other only for electricity and for greater grip stability.
The Hub is designed to connect and never be disconnected: the socket is very firm, so much so that you need to push a little to fit it all the way in and just as much to remove it.
Ideally it goes in the bag like this, as a natural addition to the Mac, in a backpack it is perfect (because the Mac stands upright), some extra attention if you use a bag.
The only thing we noticed is that the color is slightly different from that of the MacBook Pro 2018 (here our review), a question of hue that can be seen if you look at it even if it does not bother.
Right and left, carefully
Once connected, two Thunderbolt ports are lost (but in the 15 ″ models there are two more on the other side, in the 13 one it depends on the year and model) but you gain two USB-A ports and two more USB- C, which are usually more convenient, if only for connecting a mouse, as we did for the MacBook Pro 2018 test, where we used the Razer Deathadder Elite mouse and a Wacom Intuos graphics tablet as well as an external display on the door HDMI.
During use, the temperature has risen a little but usually we don't notice it, because in any case it is an area that we never touch with our hands.
When used with power, the HUB kept a USB 3.0 mechanical disk and an iPhone 8 charging: disconnecting the power both continued to work (thanks to the double electric charge). Obviously no problem with USB sticks of all kinds, the USB-C channel is very capable and even holds two at the same time.
Last note: in the MacBook Pro the QacQoc GN28K can be connected to the right and to the left, both in one direction and the other: this eventuality, which however brings the HUB out of the case line, can sometimes favor the connection via HDMI, however, we recommend that you unplug it before putting it in your bag.

Considerations
QacQoc GN28K is very comfortable, not capable and versatile like its brother QacQoc GN30H for example but still a good resource for the MacBook Pro, with which it ties in an intimate way and which, if used well, can represent a permanent solution.
We have it a little while testing the MacBook Pro and a lot on vacation, where it was mainly used to charge iPhone and Fitbit's Versa smartwatch.
We can say that the greatest advantage of this HUB is, at times, even the most obvious defect: don't get us wrong, it is beautiful and very practical, but a little attention is needed when putting it in the bag with the HUB connected, and only if you have a backpack, otherwise it risks bending and breaking because it is still an appendage that comes out of the case.
The “stickiness” of the connectors is high, both in the USB-C and in the USB-A ports and guarantees an optimal grip without them coming off without knowing it, but it is still a good choice, if made with knowledge of the facts.
Readers can find QacQoc GN28K conveniently on Amazon.it at the price of 49.99 euros in both the Space Gray and Silver versions.
Pro: • Perfectly integrated with the MacBook Pro • The viscosity of connectors provides a firm grip • Dual power is convenient when connecting multiple devices
Cons: • You need attention when putting it in your bag , it is still an appendix
Price: 49.99 Euro (in Silver and Space Gray)
