Bandai and Star Wars teamed up to surprise the nostalgic. In the last hours the launch of a Tamagotchi of R2-D2 , the popular astromech droid from the film saga created by George Lucas, was announced. In this way, the endearing robot is the first in the franchise to officially become a virtual pet.
The Tamagotchi of R2-D2 will include many of the typical functions that already existed in this type of device. Clearly, here the protagonist is much more important than the device itself. Anyway, it is necessary to highlight some of the functions that are included in the toy.
Users can reportedly train R2-D2 in 19 different skills . They should also keep it clean, loaded and in a good mood. The Tamagotchi based on the popular Star Wars character comes with two mini-games and allows you to unlock another seven bonus titles.
The Tamagotchi from R2-D2 is ideal for the nostalgic
It is clear that the Tamagotchi of R2-D2 does not add anything revolutionary to the experience that this type of device has presented in the last 25 years. In the technical section, it includes a 24×30 pixel LCD screen and the three traditional physical buttons to interact with the virtual pet.
Star Wars has proven to be a franchise that stands the test of time, and one that fans are eager to continue exploring, making it an absolute thrill to be able to incorporate it into the Tamagotchi experience
Takayoshi Oyama, Manager of the Bandai Business Management Team The Tamagotchi from R2-D2 will be available in two versions . One will have a white casing with blue trim, emulating the aesthetics of the droid in the movies. The remaining one is mostly translucent blue, with a design faithful to that used historically in this type of device.
Although the official Star Wars virtual pet will be available from November 11 , it will be possible to start booking on Amazon in the next few hours. It is not yet known if R2-D2's Tamagotchi is the first of several collaborations between Bandai and those responsible for the film saga. It is likely that, based on the success of this initial release, there may be more characters turned into virtual pets.
