The renewal of the Razer Kraken line does not appear clear to those who already use them because the shape is substantially the same but the details, inside them, significantly improve a product that is already very good in itself.

Essential, not discounted
The box is well made, but without frills: open the lid the Kraken 2019 come out in all their majesty, a footprint of 18 × 22 cm abundant for 322 g of weight.
There is nothing else inside the box because you don't ask for much else from a pair of analog headphones with audio jacks, you just need to connect them to the audio output of your Mac or iPad and they work: the hair effect is absent here. but it is a price that pays for itself with extreme convenience.
The external covering is in plastic for the pavilions and in soft rubber for the inside with the inner arch part in fabric: the adjustment joints of the pavilions have cleats for a precise measurement and in the left side there is also a removable microphone. .
The braided cable with the audio jack is colorful and very good, so much so that it is practically impossible to tangle it: about 40 centimeters from the headphones there is the small remote control with the analog audio adjustment (on two sides, excellent for blind variations) and the button to mute the audio.

As we said, even if aesthetically the headphones have not changed much from the previous versions, the news are there and are very important: the first innovations concern comfort, which the writer considers very important because this model is designed to rest for many hours on the head. during tournaments.
The padded headband that touches the head has been made thicker and more comfortable on the inside, as well as the whole structure has been made more resistant but the most important novelty is undoubtedly the construction of the ear cushions with infusion of refreshing gel, to avoid the overheating of the ears after long playing time.
In addition, the pads are memory foam, which means that they adapt to the shape of the head and remember it even in the next use. These innovations come straight from the Razer Nari Ultimate, a top class (and wireless) model also presented recently.

The sound
The 50mm drivers offer a good feel while gaming with a frequency response: 12Hz – 28kHz offers a very good immersion, theoretically superior to the human ability to distinguish all nuances and given by the analog connection.
The isolation is very good, given by the circumaural headphones which in fact even without an electrical noise reduction system ensure a cut of the external frequencies.

The audio remains stereo but already offers in itself a remarkable immersion from different points of view, also and above all for the possibility of being able to use them for several hours without consequences.
The audio did not seem good to us only with the music, which we suspected: it is not a musical headset, the calibration is certainly different but it must be clear from the beginning.
The microphone is excellent: the cardiode pickup model excludes noises from the sides and focuses only on the user's voice. The audio is decidedly superior, for example, to an iPhone 8 (thanks to the Lightning / Jack adapter) and substantially identical to what is already perceived in the already named Nari Ultimate.
The pink color is interesting, especially for a female audience, whose share in the world of gamers is increasing
Considerations
Commenting on such a headset is not easy, because we have to deal with a product that is almost an icon in its sector, especially because here it is a declared improvement.
We liked: (very) comfortable, perfectly profiled for the need, robust (even if we have not done real breakage tests) and with very important improvements, especially in the microphone and in the bearings, we can say that this product is ready for become one of the serial killers on the market.

All this, we remember, at the price of 79.99 euros for three colors: Green (of the model under test), Black and an intriguing Pink color (which in Razer is now very fashionable for a year now, because it is also present in other products such as the Razer Lancehead Quartz Edition, the Razer Seiren X Quartz and the Razer Basilisk).
In our opinion a very good product, which for price and performance risks, as we said, to place an uncomfortable comparison stone with all the other models, surpassed only by wireless models for obvious reasons, but towards which it offers unattainable practicality for long sessions such as when when you use them on the fly.
