At the turn of 2019 and 2020 Razer presented, including this new Razer Viper Mini, three Viper models: the first flush, a second wireless and this smaller model, which could be ideal for those with smaller hands but also for those who simply look for a more contained model that fits in the backpack.
Although at first glance the model looks like a smaller version of the Viper flush, in reality it is a bit of an evolution, inheriting some aspects of the Ultimate model, and resulting in an excellent compromise between technology and price range.

The box is quite austere, with the mouse inside, a small (inevitable) booklet, the elegant presentation sheet and the stickers and just insert the USB connector into the Mac to be able to use it on the fly.
With Windows 10 the mouse downloads and installs, with prior authorization, the Synapse 3.0 drivers on the fly, while on the Mac the mouse works fine but with only the standard functions.
The first thing you notice when preparing it is the connection cable (with USB 3.0 connector, here a wink at Razer for the lack of courage towards USB-C) in soft cotton-like fabric, which makes the presence of knots very difficult and that fits well on the desk because it is never cluttered.

More brother than the others
The shape of the Razer Viper Mini is the same as that of the Viper and the Viper Ultimate, if not in small details, but as we said at the beginning, it is basically a middle model, inheriting some goodies from its big brother Ultimate, but remaining in the price range of the Viper flush model.
The size is almost 11.8 cm long by 5.3 wide, a few millimeters less than the other bigger brothers, so the name Mini fits but it is little stuff, it is definitely not a dwarf.

The comparison with the Viper Ultimate model: smaller yes but not by much 
However, the weight has decreased, 61g instead of 74, making it one of the lightest corded gaming mice on the market, if not the lightest of those in the same price range.
In fact, the weight is what amazes the most, especially when used (as is customary for such a mouse) with a gamer tactical mat (we used this one) that softens its movement and increases accuracy.
The shape is ambidextrous, so excellent for those who are left-handed, and do not expect big hands, young ladies are welcome, as are the little ones.
For those with small hands this model is very interesting, the Razer quality in a slightly more contained form
8,500 reasons to use it
The 8,500 dpi optical sensor is very good, together with the lightness of the product and the feet in PTFE (0.8 mm thick), a material that favors rapid movement but does not affect accuracy.
The internal processor is not at the level of the Viper Ultimate, in the end it settles in a lower category, but it is still very valid and a very interesting alternative in wire mice and obviously superior, and not a little, to all commercial mice.
Extraordinary feet made of PTFE, a ceramic often used also in pots to increase the sliding.
The Chroma lighting appears on the back, in the logo, but also in the underlying part behind, synchronized with that of the logo, until you intervene with the drivers.
The Razer Viper Mini houses six independently programmable Hyperesponse buttons, with Razer Optical Switch, certified for up to 50 million clicks. all his life, those who play are on a bit higher values): beyond the very long life, they really like the optical click that in addition to being precise (and avoids involuntary clicks) offers a pleasant and singular metallic noise.
The upper button allows the on-the-fly resolution switch (predefined levels: 400/800/1600/3200/6400), a factor that we liked less than the one adopted in the latest mice where the button was placed in the body below, because it can happen to touch it by mistake with an often inappropriate speed change.
Finally, the wheel, rubberized and tactile for gaming, is very precise and useful, not only for gamers, but for anyone who uses precision applications.

How does it work
Tested on a gamer mat, the mouse is very light, not so small (the writer came from a Basilisk Ultimate, much larger) and fast, however the sensation of precision given by a respectable internal chip remains firm (the step towards the Basilisk Ultimate or the Viper Ultimate feels but only in expert hands).
The cable is very good, it never intertwines and offers a useful softness when you have many threads: finally the beauty of the Chroma effect is present here, but not bulky, even if in a Razer corded mouse it could certainly dare a little. Moreover.
The mouse is ambidextrous and lends itself to different types of grips, from claw to leaning, even if it is not a product dedicated
The PTFE feet offer a great surface, and this is perhaps the most striking improvement over the previous Viper, not only aesthetically, but also in terms of feel during use, with or without a mat.
As already highlighted, a USB-C connector is missing, more courage was expected from Razer in 2020, or an adapter in the box, given that in the gamer world the use of USB-C and Thunderbolt is now natural.

Considerations
For those who want a precise, not bulky, flush mouse (to avoid battery problems, pairing or interference) this new Razer Viper Mini is an excellent solution, at an undoubtedly interesting price, putting potential and beauty on the plate. of design.
We hope that over time Razer changes its mind and returns to propose drivers for Mac too, in order to better customize it, however even in its basic form this Viper is already an excellent product for those who play, or in any case for those who need a mouse with wheel.
