The boundary between a top of the range and a mid-range phone, which was previously quite marked, has gradually narrowed. The clear proof of this is this realme GT Neo2 5G, which falls within the mid-price range, but which actually has all the credentials not to make you regret a top terminal. Here's why.
Let's start with the design, certainly not original, but rather refined and which makes the terminal feel like a higher-end smartphone. The front is full screen, but this is no longer surprising, with a hole for the front camera positioned in the upper left corner. The side frames are quite clean, where on the left there is only the volume rocker, while on the right there is the on / off / standby button, which is positioned at the right height of the thumb when holding it. The choice of minimal sides moves – play force – the sim compartment on the lower part, which is almost invisible, right next to the USB-C connector.
The rear has a little more character, due to the large camera bump, where its very flashy sensors stand out, with a third smaller lens, and a dual LED flash. Considering the overall size of the terminal, this huge bump is not out of place, even if it is certainly a rather obvious chamber compartment, even if by now the Android user has been used to catching one's eye. 
The back is made of plastic, a material that probably helped the brand to reduce costs and contain weight, which however does not hide with its 200 grams. The overall touch and feel is very good, the terminal is held well in the hand and returns a very good feeling, especially on the front, where it is certainly hard to distinguish it from a much more expensive top of the range.
Display
One of the strengths for this terminal is certainly the 6.6-inch AMOLED display, which can be appreciated from the first start. The images are absolutely alive, with bright and very saturated colors, which obviously can be adjusted at will by the user. It is a 120 Hz unit, which therefore makes scrolling optimal, with particularly fluid animations. It is possible to set the display to decrease the refresh rate when possible, so as to save battery, even if we have not felt the need, considering the excellent autonomy of the terminal.
The brightness levels are quite high, perfect for making the display readable even in direct sunlight, thanks to its maximum 1300 nits. 1300 nits. Furthermore, it supports HDR10 + and the front glass is protected by Gorilla Glass 5. The screen, in conclusion, is not really different from that of many other top of the range appreciated on the market, and the impression is that of using a screen of first class.
Performance
To find the differences between this realme GT Neo 2 and a real top of the range, you need to look at the technical data sheet. Be careful, however, because in fact the differences are noticeable only on paper, while in daily use you realize that, all in all, the vast majority of users will not notice the differences.
Reading the data sheet, in fact, this terminal is equipped with the Snapdragon 870 processor, which according to statistical data alone is not as fast as the top Snapdragon 888. In fact, there is nothing that this realme GT Neo 2 with this Snapdragon 870 can't handle.
Daily use is among the most fluid and reactive experiences that can be obtained on a smartphone, where everything is absolutely fluid and ready to use, also thanks to the realme UI 2.0 interface, which is well optimized. We did not encounter any lag, neither for the management of standard apps, nor when playing games that require greater use of resources.
A heartfelt applause certainly goes to the vibration motor, which transforms every tap on the screen, especially those on the keyboard, into a natural interaction with excellent feedback. A small note that left a bad taste in our mouth is the management of notifications when the screen is off: when a notification arrives, the terminal shines the edges with an effect chosen by the user, but does not directly show the notification icon. inbound. To understand what it is, it will be necessary to activate the complete always-on, where in addition to the time, the icons of the apps that contain unread notifications are shown. Small things, of course.
Realme GT Neo 2, we anticipate it immediately, is a candidate to be the best gaming smartphone in this price range. The Snapdragon 870 processor has in fact been optimized to run high-end games, without sacrificing any graphic detail. We tested, for example, Call of Duty: Mobile, one of the titles of the moment that manages to put the smartphones on which it runs under stress. We tested it with very high graphics and maximum frame rate, with no noticeable dropped frames. That's not all: if you activate the GT mode, there is a marked improvement in the touch response speed on the display, equal to 600Hz. Needless to say, when testing casual games, which do not require great computing skills, the terminal manages to run them without even heating up. Moreover, the stereo speakers give the user a better gaming experience, also in terms of sound.
If we really had to find something to complain about, but just for the record and not for real necessity, we could appeal to the loudspeaker volume, which is not very high, even during hands-free calls.
Camera
Where probably realme GT Neo 2 moves away with a greater gap from the top of the range is the multimedia department. Attention, however, because for the value for money we promote this too with flying colors, but the difference is tangible with the various camera phones on the market today.
GT Neo 2 is not a camera-focused phone, although certainly most users will rate the shots offered by this terminal as very good. when shooting in optimal light conditions the result is absolutely enjoyable, with high contrasts and good noise suppression. Where there is a suboptimal result is the dynamic range, which is limited, resulting in suboptimal color accuracy.
In low light conditions and at night you can still get sharpness and photos with medium exposure, and for even better results it could be useful to activate the night mode. Autonomy and recharge
Let's close the circle with a flourish by talking to you about the battery and charging. A few words, but just to convey the idea. A typical day of use will allow you to arrive in the evening with 35% of remaining charge, if not more. In any case, thanks to the 65W fast recharge, complete with the adapter present in the package, it will not take you even 40 minutes to fully charge. Charging and autonomy side this GT Neo 2 is really second to none.
Conclusions
What about this terminal. You will have already figured it out. Thanks to its price, which starts at 449, but which in reality is often found below the 400 threshold, this terminal is one of the best choices you can make. Not only if you are looking for maximum fluidity in daily use, but also for those who want an excellent display and a terminal capable of satisfying on the gaming level. The photos do not reach the qualitative heights of the top of the range, but the result is also above expectations considering the price.
