Realme also wants to compete against Google, Amazon and Xiaomi in the TV gadget segment. The Chinese company has launched its Realme TV Stick in Spain, a 4K media player that allows you to turn any TV into a smart TV and that includes features very similar to Google's Chromcast.
The Realme TV Stick supports an HDMI 2.0 connection and allows to play content in 4K resolution with up to 60 Hz and in HDR10+. It has Google TV, its own operating system that works independently of the smartphone. This allows, among other things, to download apps such as Netflix, HBO Max, Disney +, as well as other streaming platforms. The Google TV interface, like the Google Chromecast, is controlled from a remote control. This also includes direct access to some of the aforementioned services. However, it is also possible to use the Google Assistant to, for example, ask you to play a series or open an application.
Realme's media player, the TV Stick, also supports ChromeCAST technology, which offers the ability to cast content from the smartphone to the TV. This function It is useful, for example, if we want to show photos on the big screen or quickly share the content we are seeing on the terminal.
Regarding the technical specifications, the Realme TV Stick has a quad-core processor accompanied by 2 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal memory. This is apparently enough configuration to be able to navigate the interface without problem, although those 8 GB of storage may be scarce for some users. It also includes support for Bluetooth 5.0 and WiFi connection.
How much does the new Realme TV Stick cost?
The multimedia player from the Asian manufacturer is now available for purchase on the Realme Spain website for 69.99 euros. Same price as the Chromecast with Google TV, which includes practically the same features. But 20 euros more expensive than Xiaomi's Mi TV Stick. The price difference, yes, can be justified, given that the Xiaomi player is not as powerful, it does not have Google TV but it maintains Android TV —a more outdated version—, and includes less advanced specifications than those of the Realme TV Stick.
Amazon's Fire TV Stick 4K, on the other hand, is $10 cheaper than the Realme TV Stick. In this case, it is a player that also includes features very similar to Realme's new gadget, but that bets on its own platform, which lacks some important apps, such as HBO Max.
