Shazam, Apple's music recognition service, is now available in Chrome through an extension . The new tool allows users using the Google browser to quickly recognize music. All this, without the need to access the smartphone app and, in addition, with a synchronization to your Apple Music account.
Unlike the Shazam application for iPhone or Android, which also allows you to play the different recognized songs or access more details of the tracks, the extension of the app for Chrome only serves to recognize the music that is playing on that tab . For example, in a YouTube video or in a series or movie that is being played. However, it seems that it is possible to obtain more information about the song by clicking on its title, an option that redirects to another tab. However, the Shazam page where all the details should appear is not yet available.
In addition, the user can see a history with the songs “shazamed” in Chrome , as well as synchronize their Apple Music account to play the complete track or add it to their library. Unfortunately, it does not seem possible to synchronize a Spotify account, an option that is available in the app.
How to install the Shazam extension in Google Chrome
To download the new Shazam extension for Chrome, it is necessary to access the browser's add-on store, known as ' Chrome Web Store' and type “Shazam” in the search box. Don't worry if it still doesn't show up, as the extension has recently been activated and doesn't seem to be available to some users yet. In any case, you can directly access the extension's page here. Once inside the Shazam page, click on the button “Add to Chrome” and confirm the action. In a few seconds, the plugin will appear at the top of the search bar.
Click on the “Connect with Apple Music” button if you want to synchronize your account to save those songs that you have recognized. If you don't have a subscription to Apple's service, you can write down the song title and manually search for it on another music platform. To r recognize a song with Shazam , click on the icon in the upper area and then click on the button with the shape of the logo. In a few seconds the service will recognize the song and display the title, artist and cover art.
