Sky and Netflix team up

Sky and Netflix team up

Sky and Netflix have made an agreement according to which the Sky Q platforms – the most recent – will also allow access to Netflix content. It is the first such agreement between Sky and Netflix. The offer will cover both those who are already subscribers to Netflix and those who do not have a subscription:
– Netflix subscribers in possession of a Sky Q platform can see the contents of Sky and Netflix directly from the same place.
– Those who are not subscribers to Netflix will be able to make a subscription to Sky which will allow, among other offers already proposed by Sky (for example Sport), to also include Netflix. Netflix will therefore be equated to all the other packages that can already be chosen by making a subscription to Sky: you can decide whether to add it or not.

The new offer covers all of Europe and should be available from 2019; the offer will start in the United Kingdom and Ireland, and then arrive (we do not know when) in Italy. The agreement between Sky and Netflix will also cover Sky streaming services without a subscription: it will therefore be possible to see Netflix content also through NOW TV.

Andrea Zappia, CEO of Sky Italia, said: «We are facing a revolutionary stage in our path of technological and cultural innovation. Today, thanks to an unprecedented agreement, Sky Q becomes the platform where you can find all the best entertainment content in the world, accessible with just one click. We are delighted that Netflix has chosen Sky as their European partner and that their popular title offering will thus be available alongside Sky content. A confirmation of Sky's constant commitment to offering the best possible television experience to its customers. “

Sky has over 23 million European subscribers divided between the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Spain , Switzerland and Italy (where there are 4 million and 678 thousand subscribers). Netflix is active in most countries around the world and has more than 117 million subscribers.
