In today's episode of Tienimi Bordone, Matteo Bordone's daily podcast on the Post, we talk about a plastic box that functions as a kind of time safe: the lid can be closed and left closed for a set time by setting a timer. After setting the timer, there is no way to open it except by waiting for time to pass. It's called Kitchen Safe and is used by people who have decided to go on a diet but already know they are susceptible to temptation and by anyone else who needs outside help to exercise self-control. Bordone has been using it for months for the smartphone, when he wants to concentrate and not give in to the temptation of notifications. It is also suitable for parents who want to requisition smartphones or video games from their children, but already know they need a little coercive help to avoid being touched.
There is both transparent plastic, for those who think that seeing what it contains can be useful to control themselves, and white. Bordone says that buying it transparent can be a bit masochistic, but seeing the “object of desire” that we have deliberately removed from us gives a certain satisfaction. It also says that you really only suffer for the first few minutes. There are three sizes: mini, basic and XL and with different colored lids. It is not very cheap: it costs 78 euros on Amazon at the moment. For those who want something similar, but understandably want to spend a little less there is this other model, from 35 euros. For the Bordone podcast, on the other hand, there is a subscription to the Post.
