The new Fitbit Charge 5 debuts design, color OLED screen and more health-focused sensors

The rumored Fitbit Charge 5 is finally official. The wearables brand acquired by Google has presented its new activity bracelet this Wednesday. A proposal that seeks to continue offering a “holistic approach to health” while presenting an elegant aesthetic thanks to its premium design inspired by the Fitbit Luxe.

The new bracelet, which had already been seen in leaks, debuts a color touch screen with twice the brightness of previous models. In addition, it is able to remain on at all times. In this way, the Fitbit Charge 5 says goodbye to the classic monochrome panel that at this point seemed a bit old-fashioned.

As for the chassis, the Fitbit Charge 5 is thinner than its predecessor. According to the company, it is 10% thinner, something that should directly impact its comfort. As you can see in the images, the new activity bracelet also incorporates a touch button on each side.

Ally in a healthy lifestyle

Credit: Fitbit The Fitbit Charge 5 wants to become our best ally to achieve a healthy lifestyle. To achieve this, the company, among other things, has equipped its new bracelet with a series of sensors that monitor the status of users and recommend the most appropriate physical activities.

The ECG, for example, measures the electrical activity of the heart (electrocardiogram), analyzes the recording and displays the data obtained both on the bracelet and in the Fitbit app. The system is also capable of alerting in the event of symptoms of atrial fibrillation, an arrhythmia that can increase the risk of heart attacks and other diseases.

Combined with built-in GPS, the new Fitbit Charge 5 can measure heart rate during any of the 20 built-in exercise patterns. Additionally, the SmartTrack feature can track activity while Active Zone Minutes creates a workout intensity map.

In case of having a Premium subscription, the Fitbit Charge 5 will also allow the use of a function called Daily Readiness Score, which recommends activities according to the user's physical condition at a certain time. The system is based on a scoring system fed by the data obtained by the sensors of the bracelet. A high score will mean vigorous physical activity, while a low score will translate to activities that aid recovery, such as meditations.
