GoPro unveiled its new flagship action camera on Thursday. The GoPro HERO10 Black comes with a new processor, known as GP2, which promises that “ everything will be faster ” compared to last year's model and will improve in the capture of images and videos, even at the highest resolutions.
In the official statement, the company indicates that the GoPro HERO10 Black's 23.6 MP resolution sensor is combined with the new GP2 processor to capture video up to 5.3K which allows smooth playback and 2x slow motion.
It also captures video in 4K at 120 fps (4x slow motion) and 2.7K at 240 fps (8x slow motion). The new GP2 processor also improves video algorithms with local tone mapping (LTM) and 3D noise reduction (3DNR). These allow captures of more precise details, more realistic textures and better contrast, even in low light.
While this same 23.6 MP sensor was also used in the GoPro Hero9 Back, the new chip promises a major leap in photo performance. This setting outputs 19.6 MP images from 5K videos in 4: 3 format and 15.8 MP from 5K videos. , 3K at 60 fps.
The benefits of the new processor also impact HyperSmooth version 4.0 of the GoPro HERO10 Black. Image stabilization technology now is much more efficient at eliminating unwanted shake and includes an improved leveling system that locks the horizon even when the camera is tilted up to 45 degrees in any direction.
New features, but continuous design
The GoPro HERO10 Black has a front screen and a rear touch screen. As it is an action camera, the renowned firm has adopted a lens with a hydrophobic treatment . This feature improves the device's ability to get wet and resist water spills.
But it is not only a solution for adventure. The GoPro HERO10 Black can also be used as a webcam with the computer (at 1080p). It offers wired content transfers to smartphones or other devices, wireless transfer, and the ability to host files in the cloud.
Although it is five grams lighter, the GoPro HERO10 Black looks almost identical to the previous generation camera. It maintains the classic sticky rubber finish, the physical buttons for power on and recording mode change, the USB-C port, the compartment for the microSD card and the 1,720 mAh rechargeable battery .
