The collaboration between Open Fiber and Sky Italia acquires even more strength reaching the white areas , so that the families who live there will be able to choose the real fiber connection of Sky Wifi suitable for all needs and optimized for streaming and uploading content.
Having achieved this goal, the coverage of Sky Italia's ultrabroadband service now reaches over 2,600 municipalities and almost two-thirds of households in Italy. Its presence is also reinforced in some of the main Italian regions including Piedmont, Veneto, Sicily and Lombardy. By the end of the year, it will reach 70% of Italian homes.
The quality of the connection is guaranteed by the core fiber network infrastructure built from scratch by Sky, able to make the most of the access network provided by Open Fiber, and by the Sky Wifi Hub, which distributes the signal in homes in a stable and homogeneous way thanks to the innovative technology developed by Comcast.
For the occasion Andrea Duilio , CEO of Sky Italia, declared:
“Sky Wifi continues to grow and thanks to the strengthening of this collaboration with Open Fiber, a fundamental partner of the service since its launch, it reaches the Italian territory in an increasingly widespread way.
We are really happy to be able to offer even more families the opportunity to choose Sky Wifi and to make our contribution to the spread of ultra-broadband in the country, bringing our quality connectivity even in those areas that have so far been most affected by the digital divide.
The need for high-performance connections able to best support the connectivity needs of all the people in the home is increasingly strong among Italian families. With Sky Wifi we offer a particularly effective solution: a powerful, stable and fast ultrabroadband service, which simplifies people's lives in all activities, from streaming content to professional or school ones “.
