The United States accused Huawei of fraud and theft of intellectual property

The US Department of Justice (DOJ) has accused the Chinese company Huawei of fraud and theft of intellectual property, adding new tensions with China in the so-called “trade war” between the two countries. An accusation concerns some Huawei employees, including the financial director and daughter of company founder Meng Wanzhou, already at the center of a court case in the United States. They are accused of collaborating with Iran, violating the rules imposed by US sanctions. Huawei is also accused of having stolen intellectual property from the operator T-Mobile, violating some confidential agreements on various resources for testing smartphones. Huawei, one of China's largest tech companies and with growing success in Western countries as well, has denied any allegations. The company has been under severe pressure in the United States and Europe for months, with several companies and institutions that have decided not to use its technologies for the development of new networks, such as 5G for mobile telephony.
