The YouTube player releases interesting news after a long time

From its official blog, YouTube has announced news that will be available on its platform starting today. These are options that have been tested for some time, but are now ready for global deployment. Among them, we have changes in the player, new functions to highlight the important parts of a video; and many more.

YouTube has added a new graph that will allow us to see the most played parts of a video. In this way, they hope that we will save time when viewing long content or content that is not separated by timestamps, and where navigation can be complicated.

This function had already been available for some time for those users subscribed to YouTube Premium. However, the company has finally deployed it for the rest of the platform's users; and you can see it from your computer, and also from your iOS or Android mobile device.

Although creators often segment their longer videos into chapters or link to selected parts using timestamps, the new chart is intended to make it possible for users to browse any YouTube video to quickly find the most interesting parts.

These segments may or may not always correlate with where the chapters are located or timestamps, especially in the case of certain segments going viral, for example.

TechCrunch To know the most relevant parts of a video, you just have to play one from the app or the web version of YouTube. Later, drag the progress bar and you will see how a gray graph appears on top. The higher the mounds, the more popular that area of the video is. In fact, if you've reached the most popular part, the little progress bar image will let you know.

More news for YouTube

But this is not all. The platform has alsoreleased the chapters feature for other devices which were not previously supported. Among them we find Smart TVs and video game consoles. Now, users of these devices will be able to browse through the videos using the timestamps left by the creators.

Single Loop is another of the functions that come to the platform. This is a feature that allows users to trigger an endless loop on any specific video. To use it, you just have to select the option from the video settings menu, the same one where you change the quality and speed of the video.

Also, the YouTube player window has been revamped. As they have commented, now we will be able to see information about the video (such as the chapters, the description or the comments) from a small panel that will appear when activating the full screen. In addition, you will be able to vote a video with your Like or Dislike much faster through this window.

Coming soon… There is still one last thing. YouTube has confirmed that “very soon” we will be able to see another of the experiments they have been testing. In the future, users will be able to search for the exact moment of the video they want to see. This will of course be available sooner for YouTube Premium subscribers.
