UE Wonderboom is a small, robust Bluetooth speaker capable of working practically anywhere, even underwater: heir to that Boom 2 that had done so much for build quality and for services included, Wonderboom represents a smaller and more essential version, but equally intriguing.
The first thing you notice, starting from the packaging, is that everything is designed for the youngest: the colors, the packaging (which makes you “discover” the product), the giant buttons and the security of a smartphone accessory (but you can also use it with a Mac) that doesn't really fear anything.
UE Wonderboom, the speaker who … swims
Summer has now arrived (although not astronomically), and many of we are already planning a trip to the beach, Sundays by the pool, a mountain climbing, a motorbike trip, a trip with a backpack and cans to adventure for Europe.
Here, it is this is the spirit that UE Wonderboom soul: that of a device that follows you without fear of anything, be it the heat of the beach, the water of the pool, or the little space of the backpack: wherever you put it, UE Wonderboom does its job, without problems.
In fact, the project was born under the banner of simplicity: one upper button for switching on and pairing, two (unequivocal) for volume and a rear MicroUSB connector for charging. Wanting to underline a lack, it does not have support from an App (unlike its older brother) but it is not so serious.
For the rest it's all speaker, at 360 °: which means that you put it in a room, on the lawn in the mountains, on the towel at the beach or on the boat, and everyone will listen to the music in a fair and democratic way (but be careful do not disturb).
The lion's share of course is water resistance: but not like other spray products, UE Wonderboom also goes underwater without problems. In our house it has immediately become the speaker for the bathroom, to be used in the shower or on the sink when we shave, but it already promises sparks for beach holidays on the beach, resting it on the rock during the diving competition.
The small barrel
But the surprises don't end there : despite the small size, the power is not to be underestimated and, even if it does not reach the results of its older brother Boom 2 (which remains on the market), in a not exaggerated space it does not make us regret more generously sized products.
In an outdoor lawn it makes itself felt quietly for 10-15 meters, as it is able to cover a room and obviously it is capable of entertaining everyone if used in the car. The small size is an advantage when carrying it, it fits comfortably in the backpack and the hook, in fabric, allows easy anchoring in places where it is impossible to put the UE Wonderboom simply upright.
Obviously if you have a lock or a safety cable at hand, the hook is also useful for indiscreet hands, although with a small knife it can probably be cut.
The music around
The second great peculiarity of this speaker is undoubtedly the fact that the music comes out at 360 °. This, in our opinion, on the one hand is a great advantage in practical terms, because positioning a 360 speaker is easier than a directional one, but on the other hand it requires some compromise in terms of quality.
Let me be clear, the sound response is not bad, but on the one hand the contained measures, on the other hand the fact of being a diver forced Logitech to make constructive choices that limit the frequency response. In our tests the low ones are not lacking at all, a common factor in this type of devices, while the high ones are a bit muffled. This fact is not a problem when you are at the beach or in the shower, but it clearly emerges from listening to some musically intricate tunes in your room or office, where the Boom 2 is still obviously a step forward in terms of quality.

In conclusion, however, we can say UE Wonderboom offers exactly what it promises: a very versatile, young and robust, colorful and lively spekaer, who can accompany you anywhere without problems, on the beach or in the mountains, with some obvious compromise, which among the confusion of friends will not even make itself felt.
For those who want more quality and services, Boom 2 is still an excellent choice, albeit with some limitations in terms of more resistance.
