Home Hi-Tech Android World ,,,,, Vernee is a smartphone manufacturer that in the past surprised us by the solidity of some of its cheap terminals, solidity to be understood as the operation of the smartphone, always punctual and reliable. This time the Cyber Layman editorial team tests Vernee M6, a medium range that does not have too many pretensions, but that can be used to the fullest, due to its size and featherweight.
Aesthetics
Vernee M6 does nothing to be original, but overall it is a terminal with a classic design, modern features and clean lines. There are no physical buttons on the front. On one side there is the SIM compartment, while on the other side there is the volume rocker and standby button. On the bottom a MicroUSB input. In short, all very standard. The rear, on the other hand, has a central chamber and, below, Touch ID. Just this last element, to see it, but also to the touch, does not seem to return a feeling of modernity, but on the whole it is still an inexpensive low-cost terminal, which therefore does not take too much into account the details. In any case, Vernee M6 is an absolutely pleasant smartphone to look at and, above all, to hold.
Considering that nowadays the smartphone landscape is geared towards phablets of at least 6 inches, having a 5.7-inch in your hands really seems like a mirage. It is small, thanks to the well-optimized frames, but above all it is light: just 150 grams. The dimensions, on the other hand, are contained in 73.2x154x6.9 mm.
Technical features
The data sheet speaks of a modest terminal. The 18: 9 aspect ratio display has a 5.7-inch diagonal with IPS technology and HD + resolution. It mounts the MT6750 octa-core processor, flanked by 4 GB of RAM. 16MP rear camera, 13MP front camera. Everything is powered by a 3300 mAh battery, which on an HD + only display, which allows you to arrive safely in the evening with intense / moderate use.
Those who buy Vernee M6 certainly do not do it to find a top of the range terminal in their pocket, and for this reason the technical characteristics on paper leave the time they find. The terminal is used well in everyday life, it allows you to take advantage of the entire Android ecosystem, therefore messaging apps, social networks, emails, and so on and so forth. It is not a gamer phone, although Clash Royale, Candy Crash and other similar games, which do not require 3D acceleration, work correctly, without any particular problems.
In the use of particularly heavy apps, the terminal tends to heat up on the upper part, while for standard applications, such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram and other routine applications, it poses absolutely no problems.
In short, it is a terminal aimed at those who use mild use, who use basic functions, but who find it pleasant to visit social media, surf the internet and use messaging apps. Absolutely convenient as a forklift, or perhaps as a gift to a smaller user, or to their parents. The real highlight of the Vernee M6 is its size and weight: it is a pleasure to use a smartphone of this size. The latest developments in technology have brought ever larger and heavier devices into the hands of users, which have made them forget the pleasure of using a smaller smartphone.
The Touch ID positioned on the back is well recessed: it is easily found with the finger, and although it is not very fast, it is still quite reliable and unlocks the terminal 8 times out of 10 approximately.
Cameras
Unfortunately, the sore point of Vernee M6, as well as that of all cheaper Chinese smartphones, is the photographic department. You can take just mediocre / sufficient photos in optimal light conditions. The selfie camera is only for a few Sunday shots. The focus is slow and the advice is to pay attention a few seconds after framing the subject to take the shot. Without this little trick you risk blurry photographs. In any case, as always, we leave a small gallery of images taken with Vernee M6, so that you can judge the quality of the rear camera live.
Operating system
The operating system is practically stock, without too many pre-installed apps. VOS customization, Vernee OS, is practically nil or non-existent. It's good: the terminal is also fluid for this and is not burdened by unnecessary customizations. We appreciate VOS, very little aggressive, very discreet. The terminal is equipped with Android 7.0: it will not be very fast, but on a device of this range it works very well.
Conclusions
Vernee M6 is a smartphone pleasing to the eye, and comfortable to use. Its small size, but above all its low weight, make the device different from current models, which are increasingly larger and heavier. It can be used well, and the user can take advantage of practically the entire ecosystem of Android apps, from social media to messaging apps, without problems. You can navigate very well, and although the processor is not a top of the range, the 4GB of RAM allow you to keep the terminal fluid during its use. Recommended as a second smartphone, or to give to the little ones or, why not, to grandparents and parents. Or simply, recommended for those who want to spend little, and still have a discreet terminal.
On Amazon it costs 169.99 euros and can be purchased directly from here, in the different blue or black color.
