Welcome to the video review of I – 1, where the “I” stands for “Impossible”, the most particular camera of 2016. Perhaps not perfect, indeed definitely not perfect, but certainly experimental and courageous, as we like it. It uses the instant films of Impossible which in turn are reissues with different chemicals than those of the late American production of Polaroid, and also has an app that allows you to activate more articulated and complete shutter mechanisms than the extremely spartan ones present on the machine.
A particular machine
For the first time, Impossible Project is also trying its hand at a camera, with the desire to enrich the range of devices available: the many “cheap” Polaroid cameras, available in millions of copies, almost all working (also because, despite their age , they had very little electronics and the battery was in the package of photos, which made the cost levitate) and often bought for a few euros. On the other hand, the Impossible film costs dear: around twenty euros whether it is eight shots to those eight in black and white (still not very reliable, in truth).
Oskar Smolokowski, CEO of The Impossible Project says that with this machine a new chapter is opening in the history of the company and we at Cyber Layman feel we can support it. Much still needs to be done, however, because the Lomographic qualities of this machine are sometimes annoying, given the rendering of the images. Extremely artistic creativity, but little documentary value if not in conditions of almost perfect light and composition. And above all a capital price: 285 euros on Amazon that allow the purchase of the machine, equipped with a generous flash and bluetooth connection to hook the indispensable iPhone app that allows you to have advanced features available.
