The VTIN loudspeaker stands out, first of all, for a design without frills, but aggressive at the same time, thanks to the metal inserts and the screws in plain sight at the four corners, which give a sense of robustness to the entire case. In fact, also thanks to the entire rubber coating, when you take it in your hand you immediately feel a sensation of solidity, also for the rubber that surrounds the device and also makes it resistant to falls or slight bumps. However, it should be noted that rubber particularly attracts dust, which is almost impossible to completely eliminate, even with repeated cleaning.
On the upper part, the one covered in rubber, there is the control keypad, which allows you to turn the speaker on / off, increase / decrease the volume, and even answer hands-free calls. On the short side, however, protected by a very thick rubber, the AUX input and the one for charging via the MicroUSB cable included in the package. On the other short side, however, we find a small rubber buttonhole, which could be useful if you want to hook the case to a backpack, using the special metal hook, always included in the sales package.
On a technical level, the VTNI loudspeaker houses two 10W drivers, for a total of 20W. This is good power for a small peripheral, measuring 18 x 7.1 x 7 cm, and weighing approximately 450 grams. In fact, this power is immediately catchy, with a rather high volume, just above the average of similar peripherals, therefore suitable for playing music even in outdoor environments, perhaps right by the pool or on the beach, where it is possible to be calm on the way. of the IPX4 certification. Bluetooth 4.0 ensures a fast and stable connection with any external mobile device. We have tested the product with iPhones, iPads and various Android devices, without encountering any pairing problems or sudden disconnections.
How it sounds
The VTNI speaker defends itself really well when playing music of any genre. Audio is loud and clear, yet controlled and well balanced. The bass is noticeable, but does not exceed and do not bother. They are always present, but not able to disturb the music in the foreground. The sound is rather full-bodied, warm and deep and the general feeling is to listen to a particularly pleasant audio, always in consideration of the fact that it is a low cost device. Even the singers' voice is well calibrated, it almost always manages to stand out in a crystalline way compared to the background instrumentation. In short, everything appears well balanced, with no qualitative peaks reserved for premium speakers, but overall you will be satisfied with the value for money of this speaker.
A little subdued, however, the speakerphone aspect. In these situations, strangely, the audio of your interlocutor seems a little muffled, closed, while still allowing a conversation without any problem. Standard, however, the quality of the microphone, which fails to get our voice to the other end of the handset flawlessly. In this case the volume is always a little low and the interlocutor occasionally hears small hisses or background noises.
Excellent longevity, thanks to an integrated 4400mAh battery, which ensures over 15 hours of playback at a medium-high volume. On the other hand, however, with the supplied cable, it will take a long time to recharge the case, even over 6 hours.
Conclusions
The 20W VTIN speaker sounds good, is powerful and feels absolutely massive. If the aesthetics, with the flashy metal inserts and screws in plain sight, don't bother you, then it's definitely a purchase to recommend: sturdy, splash-resistant, sounds good and reproduces appreciable bass.
